About Valley Caregiver Resource Center — Fresno
Valley Caregiver Resource Center (VCRC) supports relatives and friends who provide unpaid care to an adult. The center works with caregivers of people with a cognitive-impairing condition—such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, or Parkinson’s—and with people assisting an adult age 60 or older with daily activities, depending on program and county.
Services include guidance on care options, family consultations, short-term counseling, support groups, training on diagnoses and behavior management, and referrals to other resources. VCRC also offers subsidies for in-home or adult-day care that can give a family caregiver respite; approval depends on criteria and funding. For information, call 559-224-9154 or 800-541-8614.
The Caregiver Resource Program covers Fresno, Kern, Madera, Kings, Mariposa, Merced, Stanislaus, Tulare, and Tuolumne Counties. The Fresno office is at 5363 North Fresno Street, and the center lists satellite offices in Bakersfield and Modesto. An office in another city does not mean every service is delivered there; ask about the family’s county and type of support before traveling.
The center also administers programs funded by the Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging and works with caregivers comparing short- and long-term care options. Ask about Spanish-language help, nearby groups, training, and whether legal or financial consultation is appropriate. No single respite price is published; ask about copayments, authorized hours, and participating providers.
The Fresno office lists hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Calling first allows staff to hear the situation and helps avoid a trip for a service requiring assessment. Have the older adult’s age and diagnosis, caregiving tasks, county, the caregiver’s schedule, and availability for home visits ready.
