About Fort Wayne Medical Assistant School
Medical Assistant Training in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Fort Wayne Medical Assistant School is a training center specializing in preparing medical assistants. Its program is taught in real medical offices in Fort Wayne, with working professional instructors, and is designed for students to gain hands-on experience with the same tools and technologies used in daily clinical practice.
The center presents itself as a joint initiative between Zollege and local medical offices, so that training takes place in the environment where the profession is actually practiced. The school is part of Zollege Healthcare Career School, LLC.
The 18-Week Program
The training is structured as an 18-week course that combines skills learning with direct practice in a medical office. The stated goal is to prepare students to enter the job market as medical assistants without taking on student debt.
The admissions process is organized in four steps: learn about the program and speak with the admissions team; complete the application by choosing a start date and payment plan; pay a deposit that is applied to tuition; and complete the program by following the center's guidance. When classes begin, students receive a free set of scrubs.
The center offers flexible start dates throughout the year. The next start date listed on the site is October 10, 2026, with classes on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Hands-On Training in Real Medical Offices
Classes are held in operating medical offices, allowing students to practice medical assisting skills in a real clinical environment. Instructors are experienced healthcare professionals who understand the daily operations of a practice and bring theory into practice.
The center describes its learning environment as a professional, well-equipped space where students train with the same instruments and technologies used in today's medical offices.
Career Support and Professional Preparation
The program includes job search support, with resume review, interview tips, and guidance from employment specialists. The school also offers employers the opportunity to hire its graduates.
According to data cited by the center itself, medical assisting is one of the fastest-growing occupations in the United States: the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 13% employment growth between 2025 and 2035, with a national median wage of $45,690 per year for medical assistants. The cited source is the Occupational Outlook Handbook (May 2025).
Tuition and Payment Options
The school offers affordable tuition and flexible payment plans, with the option to pay for the program week by week. The initial deposit is applied to the total tuition amount. The center promotes the possibility of graduating without student debt.
Origin of the Project
Zollege was founded in 2010 as Vandelay Education by Dr. Thomas Ince, a dentist who couldn't find well-trained dental assistants to hire. Rather than wait for traditional programs to change, he created the program he wished existed: shorter, taught hands-on in working dental offices, and structured to be paid for without a loan. His brother Ryan, a physician, ran into the same problem on the medical side, and the two collaborated on a medical assistant program built with the same accelerated, in-office approach.
