History and Growth of the Practice

The office opened its doors in July 2014, when Dr. Estes purchased the practice after returning to Kentucky following his time practicing in North Carolina. Over the years, the business grew: in 2017, an additional practice was purchased, which allowed it to expand from a small three-room office into the current facility on Mall Road in Florence. That same year, Dr. Disney and several team members joined to support the growth and maintain the established standards.

The name Southern Roots refers to the Southern upbringing of its founders, with Dr. Estes raised in Kentucky and Dr. Disney in Alabama, and it translates into an atmosphere of Southern hospitality that is warm and non-judgmental.

Professional Team

The medical team is made up of three specialists:

• Dr. Ryan P. Estes, DMD, MS: he studied at Transylvania University and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, where he also completed a three-year residency in Periodontics and Dental Implantology. Before returning to Kentucky in 2014, he worked for three years in North Carolina alongside a renowned lecturer and clinician in dental implants and periodontics.
• Dr. Allison (Marlow) Disney, DDS, MSD: she grew up in Dothan, Alabama, and studied at Huntingdon College. She completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery and a three-year residency in Periodontics and Dental Implantology at Indiana University School of Dentistry. Her advanced training includes periodontal disease, gum tissue grafting, esthetic gum shaping, dental implants, advanced bone grafting, management of medically compromised patients, diagnosis and treatment of oral pathology, and team-approach techniques among general dentists, specialists, and physicians.
• Dr. Srividya Prabhu, DMD, MSD: she grew up in Iowa and Illinois and graduated from Augustana College. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and completed her specialty training in periodontics and advanced implantology at Indiana University. She treats patients of all ages and needs, with a conservative approach and individualized treatment plans.
