Airtasker

Airtasker: local services marketplace in the United States

Airtasker is a digital platform that connects people who need to get specific tasks done with local professionals, called Taskers. The service is available in the United States through its website and mobile app, and allows you to post a task, receive quotes, and hire the professional who best fits what you need.

How the platform works

The process is divided into three steps: the user describes the task they need, sets a budget, and receives offers from interested Taskers. From there, they can compare profiles, ratings, and prices before choosing. Posting your first task is free.

The platform states that it has more than one million customers, 2.5 million tasks completed, and four million user reviews. It also notes that 160,000 Taskers have earned income through Airtasker.

Available services and categories

The task catalog covers a wide range of household, technical, and creative needs. Among the most prominent categories are:

• Moving and transport: packing, wrapping, and moving, including urgent courier services.
• Home cleaning: general cleaning, mopping, and home organization.
• Furniture assembly: flatpack assembly and disassembly.
• Gardening and landscaping: mulching, weeding, and maintaining green spaces.
• Painting: interior and exterior wall work.
• Home maintenance: repairs and handyman tasks.
• Professional services: accounting, tax returns, marketing, and web design.
• Other services: wall mounting art and objects.

The platform also organizes tasks by trades and specialties, such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, hairdressers, pet sitters, photographers, tutors, and many more.

Safety and transaction protection

Airtasker includes safety mechanisms for both parties. Payments are only released when the task is completed to the customer's satisfaction. The platform offers a verified ratings and reviews system that allows you to choose a professional based on their history. It also provides liability insurance for Taskers performing most activities, which provides additional peace of mind.

Featured Tasker profiles

The website shows examples of active professionals on the platform, with their specialties and ratings. These include plumbers with years of experience, moving teams, cleaners, gardeners, and chefs. These profiles reflect the diversity of services available and the reputation system that helps customers make informed decisions.

Membership and costs

Airtasker offers an annual membership for $59 that eliminates connection fees all year round. For Taskers, access to job opportunities is free, with no subscription or credit fees, and allows them to earn extra income with flexible schedules or expand their client base.

Resources for users

The site includes a blog with articles on household tasks, cost guides, checklists, and service comparisons. It also offers practical guides on how to perform certain tasks or how to choose professionals. In addition, the platform has been integrated into ChatGPT to allow posting tasks and hiring services without leaving the conversation.
