About Bienvivir All-Inclusive Senior Health — PACE
Bienvivir may suit a family that needs more coordinated healthcare than a social-services referral alone. The nonprofit operates the PACE model in El Paso, aiming to help eligible participants remain in the community while receiving care from an interdisciplinary team. It is not a drop-in adult day center or automatic residential placement: enrollment requires clinical screening, residence within the service area, and state approval.
The published criteria are age 55 or older, residence in the service area, state certification that the person needs nursing-home-level care, and the ability to live safely in the community. Bienvivir conducts an initial screen and helps prepare the application, but Texas makes the enrollment decision. Applying is free. The organization says participants eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid have no copays or out-of-pocket costs for covered services; premiums may apply when Medicaid eligibility is absent. Confirm the individual calculation with Intake before changing health coverage.
The care plan may coordinate a primary-care doctor, nursing, social work, a personal-care attendant, dietitian, prescriptions, lab work, physical and occupational therapy, dental care, and specialist referrals. Bienvivir also describes dietitian-supported meals, accessible transportation to centers and medical visits, therapeutic activities, and a specialized unit for people with dementia. The team sets each participant’s plan, so the exact mix is not identical for everyone.
The organization publishes two distinct center addresses. McKinley, at 2300 McKinley Avenue, now also houses the former Concourse location; it should not be counted as a separate third site. Carolina is at 940 N. Carolina Drive. The facilities page asks visitors to enter a ZIP code to find the center assigned to their residence and invites prospective participants to schedule a tour. Both sites and their separate phone numbers are listed above with individual directions links.
The first step is to call Intake at (915) 562-3444, extension 1442, or use the online eligibility form. Bienvivir says a staff member may visit the home to explain the program and review criteria; medical, history, and financial evaluations may then be part of the state application. Enrollment is voluntary, and routine healthcare must be coordinated through PACE except for emergencies and services authorized outside the program.
PACE may fit someone with complex medical and functional needs who wants to remain in the community and is comfortable receiving coordinated care from one team. Ask which specialists are available, what transportation routes are covered, how hospital stays are handled, what premium would apply, and what happens if the person moves outside the service area. Answers depend on the individual, coverage, and ZIP code; public information is not a personal eligibility determination.
