HomeTeam Pest Defense: Residential Pest Control in the United States

HomeTeam Pest Defense is an American pest control company founded in 1996 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The company presents itself as a home pest management firm that combines conventional treatments with built-in construction systems, and states it has more than 58 branch locations, 2,000 employees, and two million services performed each year. Its offering is divided into three main areas: household pest control, termite control, and mosquito control.

Household Pest Control

The pest control service is aimed at keeping common insects and rodents out of the home year-round. The company offers both conventional treatments and the Taexx® system, an application network built into the walls of the home. The catalog of pests treated includes ants, ticks, spiders, fire ants, mosquitoes, termites, cockroaches, rodents, wasps, fleas, and scorpions.

The Taexx® System

Taexx® is a built-in pest control system that creates a virtual barrier inside the walls. According to the company, treatment materials remain effective longer because they are not exposed to the elements. The system allows for contactless service: technicians access the network from an external hub without needing to enter the home, and the customer does not have to be home during the application. Because the product is distributed inside the walls, contact between families and pets with the materials is reduced. The company states that the system and its service come with a 100% service guarantee, with free re-services if a problem arises between scheduled visits.

Termite Control

The termite area covers preventive and elimination treatments. The company offers pre-construction treatments, wood and soil treatments, and the Sentricon® colony elimination system. It also has a warranty registration for termite service. The company presents itself as the first pest management company for home builders, and offers the Taexx® system as a termite pre-treatment method for builders.

Mosquito Control

The mosquito service is designed to reduce the presence of these insects in yards and outdoor spaces. It includes conventional treatments and the Oasys® mosquito repellent solution and service.

Six-Step Service Method

The company describes its residential service through a six-point protocol: inspect and identify potential problems; remove accessible cobwebs and wasp nests; apply conventional pest control or inject the Taexx® treatment into the in-wall system; treat entry points such as doors and windows; protect the perimeter of the home with attention to cracks and crevices; and provide a detailed report with preventive tips.
