About Cypress College — Main Campus
Cypress College serves Anaheim and surrounding North Orange County communities from a 110-acre campus at 9200 Valley View Street in Cypress. It opened in 1966 and has grown from about 1,200 students to roughly 16,000, according to its institutional history. The college reports 56 university-transfer majors, 176 career certificates and degrees in 73 fields. Its academic menu includes business and computer information systems, career education, health sciences, language arts, visual and performing arts, kinesiology, science and engineering, and social sciences; a few programs include specialized clinics and labs rather than lecture rooms alone.
The central Gateway Plaza and campanile lead toward the Student Center, Admissions and Records, counseling, student life and the bookstore. The 110-acre site has 16 major instructional or support buildings; the college lists laboratories for science, computer technology, photography, automotive services, dental care, mortuary science and kinesiology, plus food-service areas and a library-learning resource center. This is the credit-bearing college campus, distinct from the NOCE Cypress Center in Building 18, where adult noncredit ESL and high-school completion are offered. Visitors should name the destination building when asking for directions.
Admission begins with a California Community Colleges application and continues through orientation, guided placement, counseling and registration. Cypress no longer uses assessment tests for English and math placement; its short guided tool helps students choose an English, ESL or math starting point. Multilingual learners can choose from the credit ESL sequence, and those needing more time may also take free noncredit ESL at NOCE. For Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, Cypress estimates $46 per unit plus a $26 health fee for residents; its full-time resident tuition-and-fee estimate is $716 per semester. Nonresidents pay $387 extra per unit plus a $5 capital-outlay fee, before the enrollment charge and other costs. The college reports nine parking lots with about 4,000 spaces; current permits and day-pass instructions should be checked before driving.
Financial support may include FAFSA or California Dream Act aid, the California College Promise Grant fee waiver and Cypress Foundation scholarships. Foundation applicants must have completed nine units and be currently enrolled; one spring application normally opens in March, with extra questions for some awards. The college links Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube from its official site. For a student comparing Anaheim options, Cypress is the nearby choice for college credit, transfer planning and career labs; its Program Mapper and catalog show each pathway’s exact courses and units.
