About Navier

Navier and the new generation of hydrofoiling vessels

Navier presents itself as a next-generation American maritime company dedicated to the design and manufacture of zero-emission vessels. Its approach combines active hydrofoils, electric and hybrid propulsion, and autonomous systems to deliver vessels that are faster, more efficient, and quieter than conventional ones. The company states that its mission is to drastically reduce operating costs and open a new era of clean, scalable waterborne transportation for both people and goods.

The N30 platform

The flagship product is the N30 platform, described as a 30-foot vessel built from carbon fiber with aerospace-grade engineering. The active hydrofoil system, controlled by flight software and electric propulsion, lifts the hull above the waves to achieve smoother, faster, and quieter navigation. The company indicates that the N30 achieves a range of 70 nautical miles, a top speed of 30 knots, and a DC fast charge in 45 minutes. Mission-critical redundancy is achieved through dual motors, hydrofoils, and flight computers, eliminating single points of failure.

Recreational, commercial, and defense applications

Navier targets the N30 platform at three segments. In the recreational sector, intuitive systems aim to simplify operation and maintenance so users can focus on the experience, without engine noise or emissions. In the commercial sector, the vessel is designed for island excursions or scenic passenger crossings, with silent and sustainable operation. In defense, the N30 offers stable high-speed performance in rough seas, aerospace-grade controls, redundant systems, and a low thermal signature for critical missions.

Technological development and autonomous capabilities

The company is working on advanced sensing systems, full-scale autonomy, and integrated spatial command. Among the capabilities mentioned are automatic docking, also called one-click docking, and automatic adjustment of the hydrofoils according to wave conditions via sensors that feed the control software. Navier notes that its approach adapts technology from the automotive and aerospace sectors to make electric hydrofoiling more efficient and accessible.

Milestones and institutional validation

The site includes a timeline that begins in January 2021 with the founding of Navier. In January 2022, the first small-scale prototype was completed; in February 2022, construction of the full-scale prototype began; in October 2022, the first sea trial of the N30 took place; in August 2023, the first defense contract was signed; in October 2023, full-scale production of the N30 Pioneer Edition began; in April 2024, a pilot with Stripe Mobility was carried out; in October 2024, the first vessel was delivered to a customer; in May 2025, the first commercial delivery occurred, and in November 2025, the first generation of deliveries was completed. The company also states that the N30 is the first American hydrofoiling vessel and that it has validation from the U.S. Navy.

Team and vision for the future

The principal team comprises Sampriti Bhattacharyya, founder and CEO; Kenny Jensen, chief technology officer, and Paul Bieker, principal naval architect. Navier describes its vision as a world where waterways are the highways of tomorrow, with high-speed, zero-emission transportation on any body of water. The company has published an internal document, the Navier Doctrine, which sets out the reasoning behind its designs and its roadmap toward high-speed coastal mobility, resilient maritime defense, and transformation of the sector on a global scale.
