About Central Piedmont Community College — Harper Campus

Harper Campus opened in southwest Charlotte in 1999 and now sits just inside the I-485 loop, in the Arrowood and Westinghouse business corridor. Its relationship with nearby employers is part of the campus model: students can train in applied fields while the college works with local industry and hosts Harper Middle College High School.

The facilities are designed for practice, not only lectures. A welding studio supports hands-on training with industry equipment; a construction zone lets students work through building, plumbing, and HVAC tasks; and electrical labs include circuit simulators and AC/DC equipment. Programs include construction management, welding, architectural technology, and other skilled-trades courses.

Harper IV houses the Welcome Center and student-affairs services, including registration, financial aid, counseling, career services, testing, a bookstore, and student life. The location also offers library and technology resources. Campus tours and a campus map are available through Central Piedmont’s official site.

The college’s parking policy covers Harper, and the published campus page directs students to CATS for trip planning. Route 56 serves the campus according to the college catalog; verify service times against the current transit schedule. The site’s weekday Welcome Center accepts walk-ins, a useful first stop for applicants sorting out which program or office to visit.
