About Foundation For The Carolinas Scholarship Program

Foundation For The Carolinas administers more than 150 scholarship funds created by donors, companies, and organizations. The 2027–28 application window already has dates: it opens December 1, 2026, and closes March 5, 2027. Although the Foundation is based in Charlotte, each fund defines eligibility by counties in North and South Carolina, high schools, academic fields, and student circumstances; living near the office alone is not enough.

The portal uses prequalification questions and presents matching opportunities. Depending on the fund, an application may request a transcript, FAFSA Submission Summary, résumé, essay, and recommendation letters. Most awards are for graduating seniors, although some support graduate and nontraditional students. The Foundation recommends using a stable personal email account, since a school address may stop working after graduation.

Not every scholarship renews or has the same value. Committees select recipients based on fund-specific criteria and available resources, and the Foundation says awards generally cover only part of college costs. Payments go directly to the school after the recipient accepts the award and submits the required form. Renewals may require a new application and transcript each year; read the award letter and set reminders before the next cycle.
