About Central Piedmont Community College — Central Campus

Central Campus occupies 31 acres in Midtown, close to Uptown’s office towers and the Elizabeth Avenue streetcar corridor. It is Central Piedmont’s oldest and largest campus, with the historic Central High building at its core. The Welcome Center in the Parr Center helps visitors with general questions, applications, and financial-aid steps; weekday walk-ins are accepted.

The academic mix reaches from information technology and computer-integrated machining to radiography and other health programs. Four performance venues — Halton Theater, Bryant Recital Hall, Parr Center Auditorium, and Tate Hall — bring student productions, visiting artists, and screenings to campus. Dove, Ross, and Overcash galleries connect visual-arts study with public exhibitions.

Central is also a working service campus. The Philip L. Van Every Culinary Arts Center includes a teaching kitchen and student-run dining space. The Dental Hygiene Clinic provides lower-cost care to the public, and the Eye Clinic offers comprehensive care with one free pair of glasses to uninsured patients. Fitness and recreation facilities serve enrolled students and employees.

Visitors can use designated parking in Lot 5 or two-hour spaces on the first floor of Parking Deck 2; other decks serve campus buildings and events. CATS routes and the CityLYNX Gold Line help connect the area, but check schedules and event parking before travelling. The official map identifies entrances, buildings, and parking decks.

In brief

The oldest and largest campus, with a Welcome Center, performance venues, art galleries, fitness facilities, teaching kitchens, and community clinics.
