The founder and his lineage
Master Carlos Machado is an 8th Degree Coral Belt, the eldest of the five Machado brothers and founder of the Machado Method Jiu-Jitsu Association. He trained under his uncle, Grandmaster Carlos Gracie Sr., and was mentored by Rolls Gracie. His accolades include ten Brazilian national champion titles, two Pan American championships, two master world championships, and being an ADCC finalist. He has trained UFC fighters in Jiu-Jitsu and has produced black belts such as Rafael Lovato Jr. and Travis Lutter. He is also the owner of the professional grappling team Dallas Mustangs. He personally runs this academy in Carrollton, where he passes on the art as it was conceived.
Teaching method and progression
The academy emphasizes that every belt is earned through demonstrating technique, attitude, and consistency, with no automatic promotions based on time. Live training is introduced progressively, after the technique is solid and always under supervision, which helps make it one of the safest martial arts to practice. Classes are adapted to each student's level and focus on mental, physical, and spiritual development, with the goal of shaping the martial artist as a whole.
Community and areas served
Families from Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Coppell, Plano, Richardson, and Dallas participate weekly in the classes. The academy presents itself as a place where students of all levels find a serious and welcoming training environment.
