Thousand Trails

US campground and resort network offering RV sites, cabins, rental lodging, and membership options.

About Thousand Trails

An RV site, a cabin, and a seasonal stay serve different ways of traveling. Thousand Trails brings those options together in a US network of campgrounds and outdoor lodging resorts. Its search tool distinguishes RV sites, lodging, and tents, with bookings by destination and dates. The group also offers membership options. The network’s breadth makes it possible to move from a mountain setting to a coastal destination, but each property has its own facilities, activities, and conditions: the network name does not make every campground the same experience.

In the Northeast, Lake George Escape is presented as a base in the Adirondacks, near Lake George Village, with cabins and river activities. In Virginia, Bethpage Camp-Resort in Urbanna combines proximity to Chesapeake Bay with nearby historic places and waterfronts. O’Connell’s RV Campground in Amboy, Illinois, includes wooded trails, a lake, and campground amenities a few hours from Chicago. These three examples connect lodging with scenery and relaxation, with a different geographical starting point for each trip.

In Oregon, Mt. Hood Village is in Welches, less than an hour from Portland according to the property’s description, and includes a Tiny House Village among its accommodations. California adds two other options: Oceanside RV Resort, north of San Diego, offers RV and tent sites near the beach; Marina Dunes RV Resort in Marina is on the coast near Monterey and Carmel. The combination distinguishes a mountain base from a coastal campground, as well as separating travelers’ own accommodations from rental units.

The Atlantic coast offers properties with more recreational facilities. Carolina Shores RV Resort in Myrtle Beach advertises a lazy river, mini-golf, direct beach access, and glamping options. Emerald Isle, on North Carolina’s Crystal Coast, describes three beach access points, a swimming pool, splash pad, coffee and bagel shop, and go-kart track. These amenities belong to those individual resorts. They are useful for families combining a coastal setting with on-property activities, without assuming the same services are available throughout the network.

Florida brings together several options. Okeechobee RV Resort has pools, golf, live entertainment, and cabins near Lake Okeechobee. Tropical Palms is in Kissimmee, within the Orlando tourism area. In the Keys, Sunshine Key RV Resort and Marina in Big Pine Key offers waterfront RV sites and activities such as scuba diving and volleyball; Fiesta Key RV Resort and Marina in Long Key is presented on a 28-acre island with a pool, spa, restaurant, beachfront bar, and marina. Each location has a different character, from an inland base to seaside resorts.

Memberships are separated by type. Camping Pass is advertised for a selection of more than eighty Thousand Trails campgrounds; Cabin Pass focuses on rental accommodations at more than 125 locations. Enhanced programs add access options, booking windows, and stay arrangements according to tier, with distinctions between Thousand Trails and Trails Collection. Those figures describe specific products, rather than one booking that includes the whole network interchangeably. Amenities vary by property, reservations are required, and published conditions exclude taxes and fees from advertised rates.

The network offers searches for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual stays, and directs stays of 185 days or more to booking through the individual resort. Electricity is not included for stays of thirty days or longer; at Thousand Trails properties, stays of twenty-eight days or more require a current membership or one purchased in connection with the stay. The address of the entity offering memberships is identified as Two North Riverside Plaza, Suite 800, Chicago, Illinois, and serves that corporate role rather than being a campground. Thousand Trails thus combines outdoor lodging, varied destinations, and membership products that need to be distinguished by their purpose and scope.
