About Domino Park
Domino Park, a waterfront public park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Domino Park is a 6-acre public park located on the banks of the East River, in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. It is open daily from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm and presents itself as a free-access space built on the former site of the Domino Sugar Refinery. According to its own description, the park pays tribute to the diversity and resilience of generations of refinery workers, their families, and the neighborhood, and marks the first time this stretch of the New York waterfront has been open to the public in more than 160 years.
Park areas and amenities
The grounds bring together spaces for rest, play, and physical activity. Its features include a playground, a fountain with steps, a fog bridge, volleyball courts, a bocce court, a dog run, a main field, a flex field, a waterfront promenade, and an elevated walkway. The playground, open from sunrise to sunset, is designed around elements of the former sugar refining factory: children travel through the Sugar Cane Cabin, the Sweetwater Silo, and the Sugarcube Centrifuge.
The waterfront promenade offers views of the East River and the Manhattan skyline. The elevated walkway, suspended from the north end of the park to the platform above Tacocina, is supported by 21 columns preserved from the original Raw Sugar Warehouse of the historic factory.
Domino Square and seasonal activities
Domino Square is the newest space in the complex, a public square intended for seasonal outdoor entertainment. Its facilities include an ice skating rink, aimed at family outings and winter cheer. The square also includes the waterfront amphitheater, the Refinery Plaza Lounge, and the Ice Skating Rink.
Cultural programming and community events
The park runs its own events program. The Sugar Sugar series, featuring free outdoor performing arts, held its second edition from June 3 to June 25, 2026, at the Domino Square amphitheater, with experimental dance, puppetry, and music performances. The Greenmarket farmers market, organized by GrowNYC, is held on Sundays and brings together local producers with fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, fresh flowers, and plants; the listed schedule runs from June 14 to November 22. The lineup also includes community days such as Labor of Love Community Day, with DJ sets and a collection of non-perishable food items and gently used fall/winter clothing in partnership with Trinity Human Services, as well as volunteer opportunities with North Brooklyn Angels and North Brooklyn Mutual Aid. There is also a karaoke night at the Domino Square amphitheater.
Space rentals, filming, and sponsorship
Domino Park allows film and photography shoots, including commercials, wedding photography, and student work, always with prior approval from the Domino Park Conservancy. The organization charges fees for the use of park spaces for promotional or for-profit purposes or when the activity affects the operation of the grounds; the revenue goes toward funding free public programming and the conservancy itself. Fees are set according to the type and duration of the shoot, the size of the crew, the amount of equipment, and the complexity of the setup, as well as the location and surface area occupied.
The park also offers itself as a venue for special events and brand activations, with access to flexible, high-traffic spaces. Requests are evaluated based on their ability to support free public programming and the conservancy. Wedding ceremonies and receptions are not permitted, and personal events, parties, and gatherings of more than 15 people are prohibited in order to keep the park open to the public. There is a dedicated channel for press inquiries, managed through Two Trees Management, and a contact route for sponsorships.
Historical context and surroundings
The park stands on the site of the former Domino Sugar Refinery and preserves elements of the industrial facility as part of its identity. The site maintains informational sections about the history of the factory and its artifacts, as well as about the neighborhood. The website also features news and press releases, including the recognition of Two Trees as the most innovative company by Fast Company in March 2025, and content about the ice skating rink and the performing arts series.
