Tomorrow’s Teachers Scholarship Program

Tomorrow’s Teachers Scholarship seeks to expand the public-school teacher workforce in Massachusetts and lower the cost of teacher preparation. The state page lists up to $25,000 per year for bachelor’s study or post-baccalaureate coursework leading to a teaching license. Funding depends on annual legislative appropriations, so the maximum is not an automatic award. The program serves students planning to teach in Massachusetts K–12 public schools, not every college major.

About Tomorrow’s Teachers Scholarship Program

Tomorrow’s Teachers Scholarship seeks to expand the public-school teacher workforce in Massachusetts and lower the cost of teacher preparation. The state page lists up to $25,000 per year for bachelor’s study or post-baccalaureate coursework leading to a teaching license. Funding depends on annual legislative appropriations, so the maximum is not an automatic award. The program serves students planning to teach in Massachusetts K–12 public schools, not every college major.

The 2026–27 rules, effective August 2026, limit participation to four-year public institutions in Massachusetts’ public system and require an approved educator-preparation program. Applicants generally need at least one year of physical Massachusetts residency before the term, eligible immigration status, FAFSA—or MASFA when applicable—and the enrollment load specified by the institution. Check the approved school and program list before choosing courses; a private or unapproved pathway may not qualify even if it leads to a teaching credential.

The service obligation is central to the award: for each year of scholarship support, recipients must complete one year of full-time teaching in a Massachusetts public school. One year of teaching forgives one funded year; failure to meet the obligation converts the scholarship to a repayable loan. Before signing, ask how employment dates are verified, which schools qualify, how long recipients have to serve, and what happens if licensure is delayed. Compare the aid with the professional commitment afterward.

The process requires the FAFSA—or MASFA where applicable—an MASSAid account, and an application through the state portal. The program page says the 2026–27 application is open and sets November 20, 2026 as the deadline. Awards are selected after the window closes, and applicants are notified by email; submitting a form does not guarantee an award. Keep the submission confirmation and check the portal for document requests or changes to your file.

Ask financial aid for a term-by-term estimate separating tuition, fees, housing, and other expenses. Keep the award decision, any service or loan agreement, and renewal records. If your studies, residence, or employment change, contact the administrator before making a decision that could affect the aid.
