Blue Ridge Scenic Railway begins at the downtown depot and follows the Toccoa River corridor toward McCaysville, Georgia, and Copperhill, Tennessee. Its two-hour express and four-hour extended ride serve different interests: the express has no town layover, while the longer version includes two hours for exploring the neighboring communities.

Coach choice changes comfort. Open-air cars have padded bench seating facing large windows; closed coaches provide air conditioning and seats arranged in groups of four. Premier Coach 105 is restricted to adults eighteen and above, with reclining seats, non-alcoholic drinks and a catered small meal with dessert. Its added services are available only on four-hour rides.

Coach 405 provides lift and stair access plus an accessible restroom. Those tickets must be reserved with an agent by telephone, rather than purchased through the ordinary online selection. Passengers should arrive forty-five minutes before their confirmed departure; boarding begins thirty minutes before it. These are departure arrangements, distinct from ticket-office opening hours.

The 2026 fall season runs September 19–November 3; winter rides are announced from November 5 through February 28, 2027. Individual departures remain calendar-specific. The office operates daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern Time.
