Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board — solicitud TASFA

TASFA collects information for Texas institutions to consider state aid for residents who are not eligible for FAFSA. It does not award money by itself and does not provide federal aid; the campus determines eligibility for TEOG and other programmes. The 2026–27 application is open through June 30, 2027; the 2027–28 version is also available from October 1, 2026. Do not file TASFA in addition to FAFSA.

About Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board — solicitud TASFA

The Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) is a state application that lets Texas institutions assess residents who cannot file FAFSA and are seeking state-funded aid. It may be a route for students without federal eligibility, but it is not a grant by itself: the college uses the information to review programmes such as TEOG and applies its own requirements and available funds.

THECB recommends checking FAFSA first because it can provide consideration for a broader range of federal, state, and institutional aid. If you have already filed FAFSA, do not complete TASFA to seek additional money; the agency explicitly says not to file both. Students who cannot use FAFSA may complete TASFA for state aid if they meet residency and programme rules.

The 2026–27 application can be completed through 11:59 p.m. Central Time on June 30, 2027. The 2027–28 version has been available since October 1, 2026. College priority deadlines may be much earlier, and filing by the final date does not guarantee funding. Ask your institution which form and deadline apply to your enrolment and whether it needs extra documents.

TASFA requests demographic, household, and financial information, including dependency details and, when applicable, parent or spouse information. THECB publishes an online form and paper documents in English and Spanish; the online form is in English. The Spanish paper copy can be used for reference or submitted if the college accepts it. There is no fee to complete TASFA.

The online application is sent to selected institutions; students can select up to ten colleges per submission and add more later. THECB warns applicants not to send the application to the agency. Paper delivery varies: some campuses require direct mail, while others use a secure portal or in-person delivery. Call the office before sharing financial information and confirm receipt and any missing items.

After submitting, check your TASFA account and ask each college how your file appears. The TEOG guide summarises state-grant criteria; THECB publishes TASFA, cycle dates, instructions, and FAQs. TASFA does not replace admission or confirm an award: only the financial-aid office can tell you eligibility, amount, and how funds will be applied.

Who it serves and what it can cover: TASFA collects information for Texas institutions to consider state aid for residents who are not eligible for FAFSA. It does not award money by itself and does not provide federal aid; the campus determines eligibility for TEOG and other programmes. How to apply or get help: The online application is sent to selected colleges; paper forms are delivered according to each institution’s instructions. Check cycle dates on the official page. For case-specific questions, contact the program or financial-aid office named on its official page.
