About Achieve Atlanta Scholarship
Achieve Atlanta is a local organization combining scholarships with help accessing and persisting in postsecondary education. It is not an open scholarship for every Atlanta resident: its rules distinguish Atlanta Public Schools (APS) students from students at selected Fulton County Schools (FCS). Applicants must use the page for their district and graduating class; this guide focuses on the FCS path opening in February 2027.
For the FCS Class of 2027 pathway, the organization names Creekside High School, Global Impact Academy, Langston Hughes High School, The Promise Career Institute, Tri-Cities High School, and Westlake High School. Students must also have been continuously enrolled at an FCS or APS high school since at least the beginning of grade 11, graduate from one of those six schools, and earn a cumulative weighted GPA of 80 in either the fall or spring term of senior year. A separate Second Chance route is available after 24 eligible college credits and a 2.0 GPA within one year of high-school graduation.
The award is need-based: the published 2027 application requires a Student Aid Index between -1,500 and 15,000 on the FAFSA Submission Summary. Students must file the 2026–27 FAFSA; Achieve Atlanta says students of any immigration status may apply and offers an alternative financial-aid form through its team. Applicants must enroll full-time in the fall immediately after graduation at an accredited public or nonprofit institution. Eligible choices differ between four-year colleges and technical or two-year programs.
The amount depends on the path: $5,000 a year for up to eight semesters at a four-year college, up to $20,000; or $1,500 a year for up to four semesters in a two-year or technical program, up to $3,000. The award can be applied to cost-of-attendance items under program rules and is sent to the college’s financial-aid office, not as unrestricted cash to the student. Some two-year options are limited to named Georgia institutions; check the list before choosing a program.
For the Class of 2027, the posted window opens February 1 and closes May 31; applying is free. Students then complete a Fall Update with proof of college acceptance or enrollment, and submit renewals each term. Continued funding requires full-time enrollment, FAFSA and the FAFSA Submission Summary, a renewal with transcript and schedule, at least a 2.0 college GPA, and completion of 67% of attempted credits. To confirm your school or get help with the alternative form, email scholarship@achieveatlanta.org or call 404-880-3500, option 2, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. ET.
