About Amarillo Dental Assistant School
Dental Assistant Training in Amarillo, Texas
Amarillo Dental Assistant School is a training center specializing in preparing dental assistants. Its program is taught in real dental offices in Amarillo and combines theoretical instruction with direct practice on equipment and materials typical of dental work. The school presents itself as a joint initiative between Zollege and local dental offices, so students learn in the same environment where professional work takes place.
An Intensive 12-Week Program
The training path consists of a twelve-week course designed to enter the job market quickly. Classes are held on a flexible schedule and take place in working dental offices, with instructors who know the daily operations of a clinic. The school states that the program allows students to graduate without student loan debt and that access to training is affordable, with flexible payment plans.
Requirements and Admission Process
The enrollment process is organized in four steps: learn about the program and speak with the admissions team, complete an application choosing a start date and payment plan, pay a deposit that is deducted from tuition, and complete the program following the school's guidance. To enroll, you must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. The school offers multiple start dates throughout the year.
Certifications and Career Outcomes
Upon completion, students receive a Certificate of Completion, a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification card through the American Heart Association, and a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license after passing the corresponding exam, taught online by the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio and approved by the TSBDE. The exam cost is covered by the school. The center also provides job search support, including resume review, interview tips, and guidance from job placement specialists.
Facilities and Teaching Staff
Training takes place in a professional environment equipped with the same tools and technology used in today's dental offices. The faculty consists of professionals with experience in dental practice, who translate theory into practical skills. The school makes resources available to students, such as a free course guide that details the curriculum, career opportunities, and enrollment details.
Origin of the Project
Zollege was founded in 2010 as Vandelay Education by Dr. Thomas Ince, a dentist who couldn't find well-trained dental assistants to hire. Rather than wait for traditional programs to change, he created his own: shorter, taught hands-on in working dental offices, and structured to be paid for without loans. His brother Ryan, a physician, faced the same problem in healthcare, and the two collaborated on a medical assistant program built with the same accelerated, in-office approach.
Business Hours
Admissions hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM (Central Time) and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Closed on Sundays. The next program start date in Amarillo is scheduled for October 17, 2026, with classes on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
