The Cary Company
A U.S. supplier of commercial and industrial containers and packaging, with spill-control and filtration products and a nationwide warehouse network.
About The Cary Company
The Cary Company began in Chicago in 1895 as an exporter of linseed cake and meal. Its official history says that, as the market changed during World War I, the company became a manufacturers’ agent and distributor of raw materials for the paint industry. Its corporate headquarters are now in Addison, and its business focuses on containers, packaging, spill control, and industrial filtration.
The range includes plastic, glass, and metal containers, drums, barrels, pails, cans, bottles, closures, and accessories. Larger formats include intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), tanks, and industrial bins; equipment is also available to move, heat, mix, or empty containers. The catalog serves operations that store or transport liquids, ingredients, chemicals, and other materials, in different sizes and materials.
Packaging is only part of the business. The company also carries spill-containment products, absorbents, filtration supplies, pumps and mixers, temperature-control equipment, and facility supplies. That breadth connects packaging with plant and warehouse needs: the offering extends beyond the container to parts and equipment used to store, handle, and work with its contents.
The company’s industries page lists food and beverage, paints and coatings, pharmaceuticals and personal care, industrial chemicals, construction, and manufacturing. The catalog can serve a business looking for a standard container as well as a purchasing team comparing packaging, accessories, and spill-control options for a larger operation.
The company’s expansion has combined internal growth with the addition of specialist distributors. In 2018 it acquired Gurman Container & Supply. Its history also tracks the development of the Addison warehouse: opened in 1997 at 140,000 square feet and expanded to 240,000 square feet in 2016. That history helps explain why logistics and regional availability are central to its offering.
Beyond Addison, the official directory lists facilities in Glendale Heights and Brownsburg in the Midwest; Grand Prairie, Texas; Charlotte and Pittsburgh on the East Coast; and Salt Lake City, Livermore, and Jurupa Valley in the West. Addresses include 1640 Fullerton Court, Suite 300, Glendale Heights, Illinois; 4334 N. County Road 1000 E., Suite 120, Brownsburg, Indiana; 949 West Oakdale, Grand Prairie, Texas; 12810 Virkler Drive, Suite 106, Charlotte, North Carolina; and 20 39th Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The same network includes 5231 Harold Gatty Drive in Salt Lake City, Utah; 6150 Las Positas Road in Livermore, California; and 10220 San Sevaine Way in Jurupa Valley, California. The sites do not all serve the same function: the directory distinguishes will-call pickup, receiving, and corporate office hours, and says pickup in Addison is by appointment. Customers arranging a pickup or delivery need to identify the warehouse and service that apply to the order.
The Cary Company combines the scale of a national distributor with a history spanning several generations, while its everyday value lies in the breadth of its inventory and the organization of delivery. Buyers can start with a container’s material or capacity and expand the search to closures, handling equipment, filtration, or spill control, with logistics centers across several U.S. regions.
