Virginia Creeper Trail - Abingdon Terminus

The Abingdon end of the Virginia Creeper Trail opens onto a multiuse route following a former railway corridor. The outing can be a shorter walk or a cycling excursion, depending on time and fitness.

For travel in 2026, distinguish the open Abingdon–Damascus section from the closed upper route toward Whitetop, damaged by Hurricane Helene. The announced upper-section reopening is March 31, 2027; check reconstruction notices before arranging shuttles or a descent from Whitetop.
