Moonraker

Moonraker: supplying amateur radio and communication equipment since 1978

Moonraker is a British establishment dedicated to the sale of amateur radio equipment, CB radio, marine and airband communications, scanners and accessories. The company has been operating since 1978 and serves mainly licensed radio amateurs, although it also supplies clubs, cadet units, businesses, marine crews, event teams and professional users.

Its catalogue covers HF, VHF and UHF transceivers, handheld and mobile radios, base stations, D-STAR and C4FM digital systems, DMR radios, CB, marine, airband radios, PMR446 walkie-talkies and licence-free two-way radios. Alongside the equipment, the shop offers a wide range of components: antennas for all bands, mobile whips and magnetic mounts, masts and mounting hardware, SWR and power meters, coaxial cable and connectors, power supplies, batteries, filters, microphones, headsets, scanners, receivers, test equipment and an extensive catalogue of spares and accessories.

Brands and featured products

Among the brands distributed are Icom, Yaesu, Kenwood, Anytone, Diamond, Comet, AOR, President and RigExpert, as well as Moonraker's own brand, which the company designs and manufactures. The product selection is based on performance and reliability; according to the company, if a product does not perform, it does not stay in the catalogue.

Technical advice and customer service

The company points out that its product pages include technical specifications rather than promotional texts, and that telephone support is provided by licensed radio amateurs who operate their own stations. This approach aims to guide customers in choosing equipment according to the operating environment, such as a base station with an earth connection, a van or a boat, and in selecting suitable feeders and antennas.

Shipping and services

Moonraker ships throughout the UK and abroad. The shop states that orders placed before 2 pm are dispatched the same day. It also offers price matching, a loyalty points programme called Loyalty WATTS and multi-buy offers.

Audience and track record

With almost five decades of activity, Moonraker has served thousands of customers, from those starting out with a handheld walkie-talkie to those setting up a complete HF station with a beam antenna and rotator. The company presents itself as a supplier for amateurs and professionals, and maintains a blog section with news and technical articles on amateur radio and communications.
