About RiSE Coffee

RiSE Coffee: UK speciality coffee subscription

RiSE Coffee is a British speciality coffee subscription company that operates through an online store. Its proposition centres on the monthly delivery of freshly roasted coffee from independent UK roasters, selected by the founders, Alice and Ben. The company presents itself as the UK's most voted coffee subscription and holds B Corp certification.

Subscription model and how it works

The service allows subscribers to choose the size of their box — two, three or four bags of coffee — select the grind type (bean, ground or decaf) and set the delivery frequency, which can be changed at any time. The subscription is flexible: users can pause, skip a delivery, change the coffee or cancel without commitment or additional charges. Delivery is free in the UK and takes 3 to 5 days.

The catalogue includes a standard subscription, a decaf coffee subscription, a gift subscription and a one-off gift box. The prices shown in the shop are £24 per month for the two-bag box and £40 per month for the four-bag box. Gift subscriptions can be prepaid for periods of 3, 6 or 12 months.

Coffee selection and roasters

RiSE Coffee works exclusively with independent UK roasters. Each month, the team blind tastes hundreds of coffees to select two new roasters, whose products are shipped freshly roasted. The company states that the coffee reaches the customer 3 to 4 days after roasting and recommends leaving it to rest for 6 to 10 days before consumption. All varieties are 100% arabica, with a medium to medium-dark roast.

The company details some of the coffees it has included in its boxes, such as the House Party blend from Hard Lines, a Cardiff roaster; the Colombia Chocolatey from Dear Green, a Scottish roaster with B Corp certification; and the Peru Caramel from New Ground Coffee, also B Corp, which supports the employment reintegration of ex-offenders through the New Ground Foundation.

Contents of each box

Each delivery includes two independent roasters, an 8-page guide with tasting notes, roaster stories and brewing tips, and additional products such as iced coffee, chocolates or oat milk. The company highlights that it donates 1% of every sale to coffee-growing communities.

Additional products

In addition to subscriptions, RiSE Coffee sells a coffee advent calendar, available in ground coffee format for £42 and in bean format for £44, with discounts of up to 10% when buying more than one unit. The shop also offers other coffee-related gifts.

Awards and certifications

The company has been voted the best multi-brand coffee subscription by The Guardian, and has received mentions from media such as GQ, Good Housekeeping, Good Food and BBC Good Food, which described it as the best value coffee subscription. It holds B Corp certification and claims to have more than 50,000 satisfied subscribers.

Founders and philosophy

Alice and Ben are the founders and those responsible for selecting the coffees. Both personally take part in tasting all the coffees that enter RiSE and present themselves as Great Taste judges. The company defines itself as an initiative that seeks to improve the standard of speciality coffee without compromising the planet or the people who produce it.
