About Propertymark

Propertymark, professional association for the UK property sector

Propertymark presents itself as the leading professional association for property agents and auctioneers in the United Kingdom. It brings together more than 19,000 members and its activity revolves around membership, training, compliance advice and representing the sector before government. The organisation works with sales agents, letting agents, property managers, commercial agents, auctioneers and valuers.

Membership and member profiles

The organisation offers different types of membership depending on the professional situation of the applicant. These include Principals, Partners and Directors (PPD), employees or those looking to work in the industry, and the ARLA Inventories accreditation scheme. Membership is presented as a way to access up-to-date industry information, best practices and continuing professional development.

Among the benefits the association lists for its members are fact sheets and best practice guides, a sales and lettings helpline, training and continuing professional development (CPD), as well as lobbying, influence and networking. Members have access to a private area with restricted content, membership management, CPD logging and downloadable brand and marketing materials.

Company Advantage: packages for agencies

Company Advantage is the association's programme aimed at estate agency owners. It is offered in three different packages, designed to let the business control the level of benefits it receives. The programme extends individual membership to cover the day-to-day needs of an agency, with the stated aim of saving time and money, generating new income and facilitating compliance.

The association also offers a toolkit developed with Move iQ and backed by Phil Spencer, aimed at Propertymark accredited agencies.

Training, qualifications and events

Propertymark Learning delivers specialised study programmes for property agents at all levels. Training is delivered remotely and leads to a CPD certificate. Qualifications cited include the Level 3 Certificate in Property Agency (SCQF Level 6) and the Level 4 Certificate in Property Agency Management. The organisation also administers examinations and a learner portal.

The events calendar includes regional conferences in Birmingham, Yorkshire, Newmarket, Sussex, Southampton, Surrey, North East and Kent, as well as Propertymark One, webinars, regional meetings and training courses in business skills, compliance, lettings, sales, commercial, inventory and auctions. The offer is completed with eLearning, the Propertymark Inspire programme and apprenticeships.

Professional standards and consumer protection

The association maintains a professional standards framework covering conduct and membership rules, company obligations, client money protection, client account reporting, professional indemnity insurance and disciplinary processes, including procedures and hearings. It also publishes consumer guides on buying and selling a home, guides for landlords and tenants, explanations of property logos and the consumer complaints process.

On regulation, Propertymark monitors regulations such as the Regulation of Property Agents (RoPA), the Scottish Letting Agent Register and Code of Practice, and Rent Smart Wales. It also addresses the Renters' Rights Act, the Housing (Scotland) Act, anti-money laundering regulations, leasehold properties, energy efficiency and the Right to Rent.

Publications, research and institutional representation

The association publishes Property Professional magazine and reports such as Propertymark Pulse, Housing Insight Reports, Commercial Outlook and Auctions Barometer, as well as housing research. It runs campaigns and consultation responses, and organises its annual general meeting, elections, board of governance, advisory panels and regional executives. It also has Propertymark Trust and offers job vacancies within the organisation.

Its representation activity includes bringing members' voices to housing policy debates. The website reports, for example, on announcements such as the plan for a 2.5% deposit new-build home purchase scheme for first-time buyers in England, measures for councils to act sooner on empty homes and a £210 million package to repurpose disused commercial buildings. It also reports on deadlines such as the second quarterly Making Tax Digital update for Income Tax, which had to be submitted to HMRC before 7 November 2026.

Finding agents and institutional contact

Propertymark maintains a search tool for estate and letting agents accredited under the Propertymark Protected name, as well as a directory to find property experts. The organisation's headquarters is at Arbon House, 6 Tournament Court, Edgehill Drive, Warwick CV34 6LG.
