About Freedom Dance Studios - Wirral
Freedom Dance Studios, dance school in the Wirral
Freedom Dance Studios is a dance school based in Wallasey, on the Wirral peninsula (United Kingdom), founded in 2016. It presents itself as the number one school in the Wirral and offers dance training and opportunities for all ages, with an approach the school itself describes as elite yet affordable.
Disciplines and levels taught
The class programme covers a wide range of styles: Commercial, Street, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Ballet, Tap and Acro & Tricks. The school organises groups by level — beginner, intermediate/advanced and open level — and by age, with specific classes for children aged 3 to 7 (Mini Street, Mini Ballet and Mini Dance) and Commercial classes for adults aged 18 and over. It also runs an open class for people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND/Additional Needs).
Weekly timetable
Activity runs from Monday to Saturday. Mondays are dedicated to Street, Contemporary and Technique at beginner and intermediate/advanced levels. Tuesdays combine Mini Street, Commercial, Choreography and Street. Wednesdays include the SEND session, Mini Ballet, Tap, Ballet, Musical Theatre and Commercial for adults. Thursdays are reserved for team training (Street and Contemporary) and the Dance Leadership course. On Fridays there is a Stretch & Flexibility class and more team training, and on Saturdays Mini Dance, Acro & Tricks and an open dance class are taught.
Prices and payment model
The school offers two payment options: pay-per-class, at £4 for Mini sessions and £8 for all other classes, or a monthly subscription of £120 giving unlimited access to all classes. According to its information, it does not charge joining fees, contracts, upfront term payments or compulsory uniforms, and does not charge for classes the student does not attend.
Dance Leadership and international projects
Students aged 12 and over can take Level 1 and Level 2 Dance Leadership qualifications in partnership with the Leadership Skills Foundation; the next cohort will begin in summer 2026. In addition, the school is fundraising to take some of its dancers to perform at a live televised NBA game in Orlando, Florida.
Awards and track record
The centre has been recognised as the best dance school in the Wirral every year between 2023 and 2026, according to the Quality Business Awards, and has received the Dance School of the Year 2026/27 award in the Manchester and North West England category from the Prestige Awards. It also appears as Multi-Award-Winning Dance Studio of the Year 2026 at the Diamond Distinction Awards, Dance School of the Year 2025 at the SME News Business Elite Awards, Dance Studio of the Year 2024 at the UK Business Awards and a recognition in diversity, community and special needs from the CYD? Teachers Awards. The school also notes that it took part in a performance that broke a Guinness World Record alongside international DJ Sigala.
Community and school philosophy
The owner, Kirsty Murphy, defines the centre's mission as offering elite yet affordable dance training in the Wirral so that performing arts are accessible to everyone, regardless of social status. The school declares itself an advocate of diversity and of breaking the stereotypical dancer mould, and presents itself as a family-friendly, welcoming and supportive environment. The family testimonials published on the site highlight inclusion, support for students with anxiety or autism and students continuing for several years.
