Arena X VR

At Arena X VR, players leave behind the tethered controller and walk through a shared game space. The venue is in Upton on the Wirral peninsula and hosts virtual reality sessions for friends, families, school groups, and companies. Its setup uses wireless backpack rigs, making physical movement part of the game.

The facility has two connected arenas with a combined area listed at 200 square meters. Each zone can host up to seven players, while a full-arena session can accommodate as many as 14. Wireless tracking lets participants walk, run, crouch, and dodge virtual obstacles. A host explains the equipment and safety rules before play begins.

The catalog includes more than 100 free-roam, cooperative, and player-versus-player titles. Groups can choose from action games and other virtual worlds, with 30- or 40-minute sessions. The listed price includes the headset, controllers, tracking equipment, a host, and an introductory safety briefing, so guests do not need prior VR experience.

There is more to do after a headset comes off. Arena X has an interactive game wall, arcade machines, a pool table, and vending machines. The touchscreen wall is enclosed in a protective frame and offers dozens of mini-games without a headset, either as a standalone activity or something for companions to enjoy between VR turns.

Children’s parties and birthdays can include a host, food, and VR sessions; the venue also welcomes school groups and adult celebrations. For businesses, it offers team days, client entertainment, and exclusive venue hire. Booking ahead helps coordinate group sizes and times, although walk-ins are welcome when space is available.

The venue is divided into two play zones and has a lounge area for companions, with arcade games and pool while they wait. The official site lists free parking for more than 60 vehicles. That makes it easier to bring a group together in one place, whether the visit is the main activity or part of a broader day out on the Wirral.

Arena X VR is at Unit 9, Arrowe Brooke Road Commercial Park in Upton. It is open Wednesday through Sunday, with sessions during the day; bookings are made online, and the company recommends choosing a time in advance because slots can fill up. For a family, school group, or work team, the format is straightforward: active play, shared matches, and services designed for group visits.
