Quirky Haven

Quirky Haven, engraved wooden page holders for readers

Quirky Haven is an online shop that sells a single featured product: a personalised wooden page holder, carved from one piece and engraved with the phrase chosen by the buyer. The catalogue presents it as a gift designed for readers, with free UK delivery and 48-hour delivery for orders within the country.

A page holder carved from one piece

The product consists of a piece of wood with a 2.5 cm diameter hole for the thumb and two arms that press the pages on either side of the spine. This keeps a paperback open and flat while the other hand is free. Its dimensions are 9 cm long and 1.3 cm thick, and it is made from solid beech or walnut.

The finish is sanded and naturally oiled. The company states that all edges are rounded and the underside is smooth, with no metal elements in contact with the paper, so the pressure is spread across both arms rather than concentrated at a single point.

Engraved into the wood, not printed

The text is engraved into the surface, not printed using transfers, so it cannot peel off or wear away. The company offers four predefined phrases for the front edge: “Shh I'm Reading”, “Just One More Chapter”, “Reading Is Life” and “Live Laugh Read”. All pieces also feature the inscription “Book Worm” and a book-and-rose design on the face. Free custom text is not accepted: the buyer chooses from those four options.

Available woods

The page holder is offered in two woods. Beech is pale and close-grained, which makes the engraving stand out sharply. Walnut is darker and warmer, with more figure in the grain and a more subtle contrast. The shape and weight are identical in both cases.

Shipping and lead times

Each piece is engraved to order. For UK orders, the company states that shipping and delivery take place within 48 hours, with free delivery across the country, making it possible to place last-minute orders for birthdays or Christmas. Orders are sent in discreet protective packaging.

Audience and purchase conditions

The shop targets the product at teachers, students, book club members and, in general, anyone who enjoys reading. As it is a personalised item, it is excluded from the 14-day right to cancel under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If the item arrives faulty or with an engraving different from the one requested, the company offers a free replacement upon receipt of a photograph.

Product care

The company recommends cleaning the piece with a dry cloth and avoiding immersing it in water.
