About Ashford Ridge

Ashford Ridge: full grain leather belts made in England

Ashford Ridge is a family-run company with a workshop in Dorset, England, dedicated to making leather belts and other leather goods. Its catalogue is organised into belts for men, women and children, as well as personalised gifts, pet accessories and small leather goods. The firm presents itself as a maker of full grain leather belts, a material it describes as the strongest, most durable and most characterful part of the hide, which becomes more supple and develops its own patina with use.

Catalogue of belts for men and women

The main offering is men's leather belts, available in various widths and finishes. The catalogue includes 35 mm and 40 mm styles in colours such as black, brown, navy blue, tan, antique brown and vintage brown. Some styles feature rounded silver-coloured or brass buckles, while others have edge stitching. There are also belts made from Italian full grain leather, in brown and black, along with replacement belt straps and twin packs.

For women, the selection follows a similar colour range: black, brown, navy blue, tan, antique brown and vintage brown, with different styles and finishes. The company also sells children's Italian leather belts.

Personalisation and gifts

Ashford Ridge offers personalisation on belts and gifts. Personalisable items include belts, dog collars, bookmarks and mouse mats. The shop also has gift cards and a small leather goods section.

Pet accessories and other lines

The company makes and sells leather dog accessories, specifically collars and leads. It also has the "Happy Little Accidents" line, whose sales have gone to charitable donations: according to posts published on its blog, £500 was donated to The Fire Fighters Charity and £750 to Hope for Food.

History and manufacturing

Ashford Ridge's story goes back to 1977, when Pam and Lawrie opened a small leather crafts shop in Dorset. Today it is a third-generation family business: Pam and Lawrie's sons, Nathan and Nick, continue the business, and Thomas, Nathan's son, has recently joined. The firm states that almost fifty years on it makes some of the highest quality full grain leather belts in Britain.

Every belt comes with a maker's tag signed by the person who made it. The company uses full grain leather and works with a tannery in Pisa, Italy, on the development of new leathers, such as the navy blue launched in January 2026. The firm has held Made in Britain accreditation since July 2026.

Customer service and restoration

Customer service is personal: Phil, a member of the team for almost twenty years, advises on sizing, styles and choosing gifts. Ashford Ridge also offers a restoration service for old buckles: customers can send in a buckle with sentimental value to be fitted onto a new leather strap.

Shipping and show presence

The shop offers free delivery on UK orders over £50 and on international orders over £100. The company takes part in shows such as the New Forest & Hampshire County Show and the Dorset County Show, and plans to return to them.
