About heySlim
heySlim: UK telemedicine for prescription weight loss
heySlim is a UK-based online platform dedicated to providing clinician-led prescription weight loss solutions. The service connects patients with UK-registered prescribing doctors to design personalised treatment plans, including GLP-1 medications, with the aim of achieving sustainable weight loss. Care is delivered entirely online and is aimed at adults residing in the UK.
How the programme works
The process begins with a free online consultation in which the patient answers questions about their health, medical history and lifestyle. It takes around ten minutes to complete and does not require a GP referral. A UK doctor then reviews the case and determines whether treatment is clinically appropriate; medication is prescribed only if it is right for the patient. If approved, the medication is dispatched within 48 hours in discreet packaging, and the patient receives regular check-ins, dose reviews and unlimited messaging with clinicians.
Available treatments
The platform provides access to clinically proven GLP-1 medications and other treatment options determined by individual clinical assessment. Treatments shown on the site include Mounjaro, associated with weight loss of up to 23% of body weight, and Wegovy, with weight loss of up to 21%. Wegovy Pill, a daily tablet with no injections, and Foundayo, another once-daily tablet with no injections, are also offered. All medications are prescribed by independent UK-registered doctors and dispensed by a partner pharmacy registered with the GPhC, ensuring their authenticity and appropriate sourcing.
Medical team and clinical approach
The service is doctor-led. The team includes Dr Amrit Thiara, Director of Obesity and GMC-registered, and Dr Thush Balan, Chief Medical Officer. Dr Thiara maintains that obesity is a medical condition and that, when treated with evidence and without judgement, lasting change follows. Dr Balan describes weight management as a complex, personal journey and emphasises a commitment to an evidence-based, empathetic approach that combines advanced treatments with the necessary support. The company presents itself as a doctor-led service, unlike other telehealth services that use independent pharmacist prescribers and may have limitations in managing complex cases. They therefore state that patients rejected by other services can be assessed by their doctors to determine whether treatment is appropriate.
Results and clinical data
According to published clinical trial data on the treatments the platform prescribes, patients could lose up to 20% of their body weight. The site illustrates this with an example: a person weighing 85 kg could lose 17 kg and reach a target weight of 68 kg. In the trials, average body weight was reduced by 20% at 72 weeks. The company cites the SURMOUNT-1 trials (NEJM, 2022), in which a percentage of participants lost at least 25% of their body weight over 72 weeks. In addition, according to a survey of active heySlim members conducted in August 2025, a percentage of respondents achieved clinically significant weight loss (≥5%) and another percentage felt supported by their medical team. Individual results may vary.
Patient care and communication
The platform offers unlimited messaging with UK clinicians to answer questions at any time. Follow-up includes regular reviews and dose adjustments. Communication with the assigned doctor takes place through a secure messaging system in the patient portal; if urgent, a phone or video consultation can be arranged. The initial assessment is usually completed online, although in complex cases a phone or video appointment may be scheduled. No in-person consultation is required.
Eligibility, pricing and conditions
The service is designed for adults aged 18 or over residing in the UK who meet specific clinical criteria, including BMI requirements. Eligibility is determined by independent partner prescribers after reviewing medical history, current health status and information from the online assessment. This is a private service and is not covered by the NHS. The price depends on the medication and dose selected during the medical questionnaire; after completing it, the patient must complete checkout, which includes medical review by a doctor licensed in the UK and the first month of medication. Weight loss plans start from £89 per month, although they vary according to dose and medication. Major credit cards are accepted and payments are processed through Stripe. There are no long-term contracts and the subscription can be cancelled at any time.
Information resources
The website includes a blog with doctor-reviewed articles and weight loss guides, such as content on L-carnitine, how to increase weight loss with Wegovy, or TSH levels and their relationship with weight. It also offers a calorie calculator and a BMI calculator to check body mass index and healthy weight range.
