About TalkTalk

TalkTalk: broadband provider and smart Wi-Fi in the UK

TalkTalk is a UK-based broadband provider offering full fibre (FTTP), part-fibre (FTTC) and ADSL plans, as well as smart Wi-Fi solutions under the TalkTalk U brand. The company positions itself as a value option, with prices starting at £25 per month and scheduled annual increases.

Broadband plans and Wi-Fi technology

The main offering includes Full Fibre, with speeds up to 900 Mbps, and TalkTalk U, a smart Wi-Fi service that adapts speed to the needs and usage of the home, with coverage designed for the size and layout of each property. TalkTalk U plans offer speeds from 65 to 900 Mbps, with a single price for all speeds, a booster option depending on the size of the home, a 24-month contract and no setup fee. The advertised price is £25 per month, increasing to £29 from April 2027 and to £33 from April 2028. The connection is full fibre.

Fixed Speed Wi-Fi is also available, with fixed speeds of 65, 150, 500 or 900 Mbps, a clear price for the speed chosen and the same contract and pricing conditions as TalkTalk U. Availability depends on location.

The company also offers Wi-Fi Hub, a device designed to work alongside the broadband router to extend coverage, and online security services to protect users.

Connection types and coverage

TalkTalk offers different connection technologies: full fibre (FTTP), which uses fibre-optic cable all the way to the home and supports higher speeds; part-fibre (FTTC), which combines fibre to the street cabinet and copper for the final leg; and ADSL, available in areas without fibre coverage. The availability of each type depends on the address and local network infrastructure. The company also offers data-only services.

Additional services and customer care

The company provides customers with the TalkTalk app, which makes management and support easier, and the Wi-Fi Assist app to optimise Wi-Fi setup. It also offers Calling Boosts, additional call packages with a minimum term of one month, including UK and international calls. International Max Boost includes 1,500 minutes to 55 international destinations and the Channel Islands, with specific conditions on number types.

TalkTalk received a silver award for Innovation in Customer Service at the CCA Excellence Awards 2026, according to the company. The company also highlights its commitment to users' online safety.

Sign-up, installation and terms

Sign-up can be done online and the company participates in the One Touch Switching system, which makes it easier to change provider without needing to contact the previous operator. Some services may require installation by an engineer, confirmed during the order. A compatible router is included, which must be returned when the service ends. Contracts have a duration that varies by product, and some add-ons may have minimum commitment periods.

TalkTalk has voluntarily signed up to Ofcom's Broadband Speeds Code of Practice for the residential market, which requires it to provide information on upload and download speeds, as well as the factors that affect them. If the download speed falls below the guaranteed minimum speed for at least three consecutive days after reporting a problem and is not resolved within 30 days, the customer can cancel without penalty. New Fibre 35/65 customers go through a 10-day stabilisation period during which speeds may fluctuate.

Pricing and financial terms

Monthly prices vary depending on the plan and are shown on each product page. The company applies an annual price change policy every April, which typically increases the monthly fee by £4 for new customers. Calling Boost charges are additional to the plan and are billed in advance. Inclusive calls are free for the first 60 minutes and are then billed at published rates.
