About TalkTalk
TalkTalk, broadband provider in the UK
TalkTalk is a broadband service provider with a presence in the UK. Its offering is built around full fibre (FTTP), part-fibre (FTTC) and copper broadband (ADSL) plans, depending on availability at each address. The company markets these services on the premise of smarter Wi-Fi, with the TalkTalk U proposition as the centrepiece of its most recent catalogue.
Full fibre plans and coverage
The full fibre catalogue includes speeds of up to 900 Mbps and allows up to 128 devices to be connected. Availability depends on the location and the network infrastructure in each area. Broadband-only full fibre plans are ready for the UK's traditional telephone network switch-off (Digital Switchover).
TalkTalk U: adaptive Wi-Fi
TalkTalk U is a smart Wi-Fi plan that adjusts speed according to the needs and usage of the home, with a range of 65 to 900 Mbps. The company states that all speeds are the same price, even 900 Mbps, and that coverage adapts to the size and layout of each home. There is a booster option depending on the size of the home. The plan is sold with a 24-month contract and no setup fee. The price shown on the site is £25 per month, with planned increases to £29 from April 2027 and to £33 from April 2028.
Fixed speed Wi-Fi
As an alternative, TalkTalk offers a fixed speed Wi-Fi plan with options of 65, 150, 500 or 900 Mbps. In this case, the speed does not adjust automatically, but remains at the level chosen, with a single price for the speed selected. It also includes a 24-month contract and no setup fee, with the same price conditions as the TalkTalk U plan: £25 per month, rising to £29 from April 2027 and to £33 from April 2028.
Complementary services
Alongside the connectivity plans, TalkTalk sells a Wi-Fi Hub designed to work with the router and extend coverage, as well as online security services aimed at protecting users and their families. The company also offers Calling Boosts, call add-ons with charges additional to the plan and a minimum duration of one month. The International Max Calling Boost includes 1,500 minutes to 55 international destinations and the Channel Islands, applicable to calls to standard-price landline and mobile numbers, excluding international premium, satellite and non-geographic numbers. Inclusive calls are free for the first 60 minutes.
Switching provider and customer service
The company makes it easy to switch from another provider through the One Touch Switching system, which allows the transition to be completed without needing to contact the previous provider. For management and support, TalkTalk provides customers with its mobile app and the Wi-Fi Assist app. In terms of recognition, the site mentions a silver award in the Innovation in Customer Service category at the CCA Excellence Awards 2026.
Contractual and speed conditions
Monthly prices vary depending on the plan and are shown on each product page. The company applies an annual price change policy every April, which for new customers typically means an increase of £4 per month. The length of the contract depends on the product and is indicated before signing up; some add-ons may have their own minimum commitment periods. TalkTalk has voluntarily signed up to Ofcom's residential broadband speeds code of practice, which requires it to provide information on upload and download speeds, factors affecting them and customer rights. If the actual download speed falls below the guaranteed minimum speed for at least three consecutive days after reporting an issue, and is not resolved within 30 days, the customer can cancel without penalty. New Fibre 35/65 customers go through a 10-day stabilisation period in which the speed may fluctuate. Speed estimates refer to the connection between TalkTalk and the router, not to the Wi-Fi speed between the router and devices.
Installation and equipment
Some services may require installation by an engineer, depending on the address and the home's setup; details are confirmed during the order. Broadband services include a compatible router, which must be returned to TalkTalk if the service is no longer used. Depending on the setup of each home, additional equipment may be required.
