Riverside Woodcraft

Riverside Woodcraft: garden wildlife craftsmanship from Staffordshire

Riverside Woodcraft is a British company dedicated to the handcrafted manufacture of garden wildlife products. Founded in March 2007 by Chris and Jade, the firm operates from a workshop in Staffordshire and sells its catalogue mainly through its online store. The company presents itself as a well-known brand in the UK for its bird tables, hedgehog houses and feeders, and states that its hedgehog houses have been recommended by rescue centres across the country.

Wildlife product catalogue

The Riverside Woodcraft catalogue is organised into several categories covering different garden wildlife needs:

• Bird tables: models with slate or wooden roofs, single or triple platform, hanging and squirrel-proof. Featured references include Safe Haven Slate Roof Bird Table, Open Bird Table Large, Sheringham Slate Roof Bird Table, Hanging Bird Table, Windermere Slate Roof Bird Table, Triple Platform Wooden Roof Bird Table, Ullswater Slate Roof Bird Table and Triple Platform Slate Roof Bird Table.
• Hedgehog houses: include the Golden Brown Hedgehog House, the Classic Starter / Gift Kit and the Hedgehog House, as well as accessories such as hedgehog nesting material.
• Nest boxes: for different birds, with variants for owls, pigeons and other species, some with a built-in camera.
• Bird feeders: decorative feeders, feeding stations and squirrel-proof models.
• Food: bird food and hedgehog food.
• Gift cards.

The online store groups products into collections such as slate roof bird tables, wooden roof bird tables, nest boxes with camera, eco-friendly garden wildlife products, wild gardening starter kits and seasonal items.

Materials and design approach

The company states that its products are handmade in the UK from sustainably sourced, weather-resistant timber. In the case of bird tables, it notes that the design aims to combine visual appeal and durability, and incorporates features that, according to the firm, are not found in other products. Hedgehog houses are designed with the needs of these animals in mind, with the aim of offering them a safe and cosy shelter.

Shipping and purchasing

Riverside Woodcraft offers free delivery on orders over £50 and has introduced next-day delivery for two of its best-selling products: the hedgehog house and the bird table. The store has secure online payment and a rewards programme for eligible purchases. The website includes a one-minute quiz to help customers find the right product.

Informative content and commitment to wildlife

The company maintains a blog with practical guides on gardening and wildlife. Published articles include one on how to attract and support pollinators in the garden, another on the importance of providing fresh water to garden wildlife and a year-round guide to feeding wildlife throughout the seasons. This content reinforces the brand's focus on caring for wildlife in the home environment.
