About 3 Donkeys
3 Donkeys: women's coveralls designed in Devon
3 Donkeys is a family-run company based in Devon (UK) dedicated to the design and sale of women's coveralls and workwear. Its main product is the 2to1® coverall, a patented design that can be worn as a full garment, as a jacket or as trousers thanks to a zip system at the waist. The company presents itself as a brand created by and for women working in agriculture, equestrian, forestry and outdoor activities.
The 2to1® system and its four models
The 2to1® coverall range is made up of four versions designed for different levels of protection and use:
- Exmoor 2to1®: high-performance waterproof model, suitable for wet weather and prolonged outdoor use, such as farming, horse care or dog walking.
- Classic 2to1®: durable version for everyday use on farms and yards, with reinforcements in high-wear areas.
- Original 2to1®: a lighter option for everyday tasks, gardening and messy jobs that don't require full waterproofing.
- Honeychurch Hi-Vis 2to1®: waterproof high-visibility variant for those working outdoors who need to be seen safely.
The system allows both parts to be zipped together when full protection is needed or separated to wear just the jacket or just the trousers depending on the activity.
Outerwear and mid-layers
In addition to coveralls, the brand sells a collection of outer and mid-layers. Outerwear includes the Brentor Jacket and the Foxworthy Smock, described as lightweight and waterproof for changeable days. Mid-layers include the Belstone Sherpa Fleece, the Original Hoodie, Wander Hoodie and Flag Zip Hoodie sweatshirts, as well as t-shirts and vests from the base range. The collection is completed with headwear such as bobble hats, headbands and caps, and technical accessories such as the SealStop® automatic water shut-off system and the Pocket2Go pocket.
History and awards
The project began to take shape in 2017, when its founder realised that conventional work coveralls were not designed for the female body shape. After consulting women from sectors such as farming, equestrian, gardening, dog handling and manual trades, the designs were registered and prototypes were tested in real environments. The first Classic 2to1® coverall launched in winter 2018. Since then, the company has expanded the range with specialised models and has received several awards. The Exmoor 2to1®, developed in collaboration with Leo Workwear and presented at Burghley Horse Trials, won the BETA International New Product of the Year award in the clothing and footwear category. The founder was named Businesswoman of the Year at the Women's Business Awards and has been a finalist in several editions of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, among other accolades in the British entrepreneurial sphere.
Audience and scope of use
The garments are designed for women who work on farms, in stables, gardening, dog walking, manual trades and outdoor jobs. The company stresses that every design is tested in real working environments — farms, shows, workshops and events — before being sold. Its catalogue is distributed mainly in the UK, although the brand states that it also serves customers outside the country.
