Aktar At Home
Aktar Islam’s service offering curry boxes and prepared Indian food, large and small selections, custom orders, and delivery for meals at home.
About Aktar At Home
Aktar At Home emerged when restaurant closures during lockdown kept Aktar Islam away from Opheem’s kitchen in Birmingham. The chef began with two colleagues and pickup orders for restaurant customers. The idea was to bring home Indian dishes recalling the flavors of his family and his travels through the subcontinent.
The offering centers on curry boxes and prepared dishes. There are rotating selections and an option to build a box with recipes chosen by the buyer. Dishes mentioned in customer experiences collected by the company include chicken jalfrezi, keema with peas, and biryani; basmati rice and naan breads accompany the main preparations.
Large boxes bring together eight dishes, which the company suggests for six to eight people or for storing several meals. Smaller versions contain four curries, intended for two to four diners depending on appetite. Each curry comes in a six-hundred-gram portion, a scale that supports planning a shared meal and calculating which accompaniments to add.
Preparation uses ingredients and suppliers the company connects with Opheem’s kitchen. Its description of the work focuses on selected spices, fresh produce, and recipes without additives or artificial preservatives. Vegetarian and vegan options feature in the selection, and each dish has its own ingredient, allergen, and preparation information.
The dishes are blast-frozen after cooking. The company’s guide says they can be kept in the freezer for up to three months and gives a three-day period for thawed food. Final preparation and individual recipe instructions accompany the order; this system allows a box to be divided across meals or used for a dinner with several curries.
The buyer chooses a selection, a delivery date, and a destination. Boxes are packed by hand with fiber insulation and dry ice, and the stated transport uses an overnight service with DHL tracking. Coverage includes mainland UK and services to certain islands; delivery to Northern Ireland is planned as a future expansion.
Gift cards let another person choose the dishes. Order, sales, and press inquiries are handled through email and a form. The result is food prepared for finishing and serving at home, with box sizes, storage, and delivery dates that help organize a meal without relying on an immediate restaurant order.
