Class methodology

Face-to-face and online sessions follow a teach-from-first-principles approach. Each class begins with 20 minutes dedicated to reviewing homework. The tutor then explains the topic from first principles, there is a short break, and students complete exercises during the session while the tutor observes and answers questions. Group classes last two hours per subject; one-to-one sessions are one hour and are only offered online.

Teaching team

The tutoring team is made up of practising teachers, undergraduate and postgraduate students, all qualified and experienced. Classes aim for active participation and real-time discussion, both in the face-to-face classroom and in the virtual environment.

Plans and pricing

The academy structures its fees into three formats: online group (maximum 8 students), face-to-face group (maximum 5 students) and one-to-one classes (online only). The weekly prices published on the site are as follows:

• Online group: 1 subject (2 hours) for £30/week; 2 subjects (4 hours) for £42.50/week; 3 subjects (6 hours) for £50/week.
• Face-to-face group: 1 subject (2 hours) for £35/week; 2 subjects (4 hours) for £60/week; 3 subjects (6 hours) for £80/week.
• One-to-one online: 1 subject (1 hour) for £35/week; 2 subjects (2 hours) for £65/week; 3 subjects (3 hours) for £82.50/week.

All plans include access to the learning environment and recorded lessons; face-to-face and one-to-one plans add weekly feedback.

Enrolment process

The first step is to book a free trial lesson through the web form or by phone. The student attends that first session at no cost. The onboarding team then discusses the results and answers questions. Finally, the family decides whether to enrol the student in regular classes.

Location and format

Face-to-face classes are held at Langley Grammar School in Slough (Berkshire). The academy also offers online tuition for students across the UK and abroad. Face-to-face hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 16:00.
