Membership and its benefits

Membership of the society brings a series of exclusive benefits. These include enhanced savings rates for those who meet the requirements, member-only offers, a free pension health check and an EPC Plus home energy report, as well as a Property Report. Members take part in the Annual General Meeting and have access to a Member Panel which, according to the society, influences its decisions. The society also carries out charitable giving work.

One of the standout benefits is the Members' Draw, a monthly prize draw with prizes of £25,000 (one prize), £10,000 (two prizes) and £1,000 (five prizes). Entry is automatic for members resident in the UK, aged 18 or over, with a savings account or a mortgage of at least £100. Members receive at least one entry and can earn up to five based on length of membership, with the option to opt out at any time. The promotion runs until 30 September 2027, with the first draw on 1 October 2026 and monthly draws thereafter.

Publications and fraud prevention

The society publishes Life and Money, with articles and email newsletters on financial topics, and offers informative content produced by its own specialists, such as Stocks and Shares ISAs, saving for children or grandchildren and how Inheritance Tax affects families.

On security, the society warns that scammers are using impersonation, fake investment opportunities — including cryptocurrency — and AI-generated calls. Skipton Building Society states that it will never ask its customers to move money to a supposedly safe account, to invest quickly for high returns or to share passwords or codes used to manage their online accounts.
