Booking process and house rules

Stay Host Save states that all guests must complete an online check-in before arrival, which includes uploading a photo ID, electronically signing the rental agreement and authorising a refundable damage deposit of £75. This deposit is pre-authorised with a credit or debit card 72 hours before check-in through the guest portal, and is automatically released within 72 hours after check-out if no issues arise. The company explains that the deposit responds to a requirement from its insurers following past incidents of large-scale theft, and that it covers excessive cleaning, deliberate damage, unauthorised guests, undeclared pets or smoking indoors. Optional extras such as early arrival, late departure and bed configuration changes are also offered.
