Coffeecups

Coffeecups, customised tableware and glassware for hospitality

Coffeecups was a British supplier specialising in customised tableware and glassware for the hospitality sector. Its offering centred on logo personalisation across its entire range of china and glass, with no minimum order and the option to buy split boxes of the Porcelite, Steelite, Churchill and Genware brands.

The company also offered a logo design service and carried out screen printing, hand decoration and kiln firing in-house, which allowed it to control the production of customised items.

End of operations after 25 years

The company's website announced that it was ceasing operations after 25 years in business. It explained that over the previous six months it had been winding down the business in an orderly way, with all suppliers and stakeholders paid. The product pages were taken offline, so online purchases were no longer possible.

For a few weeks after the announcement, the company continued to offer the option of collecting stock in person for £150 plus VAT per car, by appointment only. To reorder customised tableware or glassware, it referred customers to La Porcellana Ltd, which held their order history.

History and scale of the business

In their farewell message, the owners, Simon and Kate, summed up the company's evolution: it had gone from a few pallets of china initially stored in their kitchen to employing twenty-five people at its peak and turning over more than two million pounds a year. The company noted that recent years had been especially difficult for the sector as a whole.
