Pickfords

Pickfords: UK and international moving and storage

Pickfords is a British company specialising in moving and storage services, with a history that, according to its own presentation, spans nearly 400 years in the transport and removals sector. It operates throughout the UK and Ireland, covering every postcode, and offers international services through a global network of partners.

National and local moving

The company provides moving services for homes and businesses anywhere in the UK and Ireland. Its national network of branches allows it to handle both local and long-distance moves. Available options include specific services such as Pickfords Gold, aimed at owners of homes of distinction, and a downsizing service for those moving to a smaller home. It also offers Pickfords Small Moves, designed for first-floor flats or moves within a 30-mile radius.

International moving

Pickfords carries out international moves to any country in the world as part of one of the largest international removals networks. Its services include door-to-door shipping, moves within Europe with its own fleet of European vehicles, international baggage shipping — an activity in which the company claims to move more baggage than anyone else — and pet shipping. The company states that it has received the Best International Removal Company award from various industry associations in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Storage and self storage

Pickfords presents itself as the largest provider of storage facilities in the UK, with secure solutions for thousands of households and businesses. Its self storage offering includes personal, student and business options. It also offers complementary services such as a declutter service to prepare the home before viewings by prospective buyers, and professional storage at local facilities.

Packing materials

Through its Eco Box Shop, the company sells boxes and packing materials online, selected for their durability and made from sustainable, recyclable materials. It also offers an eco-friendly moving kit, called the Eco Move Kit, to make packing easier.

Business services

For the corporate sector, Pickfords offers a comprehensive office moving service, from small companies to multinational corporations. Its solutions include move project management, office relocation, IT relocation without disruption, flexible and secure business storage, asset management, and ethical recycling and reuse services for office furniture and IT equipment. The company also publishes case studies of businesses that have used its services.

Global relocation

Pickfords offers a complete relocation management service for employees moving to new posts within the UK or overseas. This service covers relocation programmes tailored to employees' needs, finance and expense management, strategic consultancy and global move management, supported by its own technology.
