Carl Allen Furnishings Ltd

Carl Allen Furnishings, furniture and flooring for the home in Salford

Carl Allen Furnishings Ltd is a furniture and flooring establishment based in Salford, in the United Kingdom. The company presents itself as a home furniture supplier covering everything from beds and wardrobes to sofas, chests of drawers and dining tables, as well as all types of carpets and flooring. Its approach is based on bulk buying to pass savings on to the customer and offer quality items without a high price tag.

Family origins and history since 1984

The business traces its history back to 1984, when Jim Cartey, after twenty years working for multinational retail companies, returned to his Salford roots to open his own furniture shop with his wife Josie and their two sons, Carl and Allen. The shop was set up on Langworthy Road, an area Jim and Josie knew well from their childhood in Salford, and was named Carl Allen Furnishings, advertised as Salford's own family furnishers.

According to the company's own account, the store grew steadily on the principle of value for money, expanding its customer base generation after generation, with recommendations passed down from parents to children. The firm notes that it has weathered several recessions, including the most recent one, and that it became a limited company in 2003, the year in which Alan, Jim's son, became main director and a contract flooring line of business was opened, with clients including nursing homes and national hotel chains.

Furniture range

The shop's offering is organised into several product families:

• Beds: divan and fabric, metal and wooden.
• Bedroom furniture and children's furniture.
• Living room and dining room furniture.
• Sofas.

The range also includes wardrobes, chests of drawers and dining tables, so the company presents itself as an option for furnishing the home comprehensively.

Flooring and carpets

Alongside furniture, Carl Allen Furnishings sells carpets and various types of flooring, including vinyl and laminate. This activity is complemented by the contract flooring division, aimed at nursing home and hotel projects, which the company developed from 2003 onwards.

Customer service and prices

The company's activity remains centred on customer service, prices for branded furniture and carpets, and the welcome extended to every visitor, whether a new or regular customer. The firm states that bulk buying its stock allows it to pass savings on to the buyer.
