Essex Clear Ears

Essex Clear Ears, an independent hearing care centre in Rayleigh

Essex Clear Ears is an independent, family-run hearing care centre with its own clinic in Rayleigh, in the county of Essex. Established in 2019, it presents itself as a centre specialising in hearing aids, ear care advice and earwax removal by microsuction, with services personalised for each patient.

Hearing care services

The centre's work is built around four main areas:

• Microsuction: a non-invasive earwax removal technique using a specialised suction device, which the company describes as precise and gentle, a comfortable, residue-free alternative to irrigation.
• Hearing assessment: evaluation of auditory function through various tests to determine hearing ability and potential hearing issues.
• Ear protection: solutions to protect the ears from loud sounds and prevent damage.
• Hearing aids: fitting with technology from a range of manufacturers, with options for different types of hearing loss and budgets.

Clinical approach and patient care

The practice is underpinned by more than twenty years of audiology experience. Every appointment includes a detailed case history and a full ear examination, from which a personalised care plan is drawn up. The centre carries out full hearing assessments with up-to-date audiological equipment at its Rayleigh clinic and offers an aftercare package, with a loyalty programme for regular patients. It also offers extended hearing aid trials so that users feel confident with the fitting.

Founder and background

The founder, Mitch Chandler, is an advanced audiologist with more than two decades of experience gained in both the UK's public health system (NHS) and private practice. His aim of offering experienced, professional and accessible hearing care to those who need it most is the foundation of the practice. The centre notes that it volunteers its services in the local community and that most of its work comes from personal recommendations.

Locations and home visits

In addition to its purpose-built clinic in Rayleigh, Essex Clear Ears provides earwax removal services at clinical locations in Hadleigh, Leigh-on-Sea and Thorpe Bay. It can also carry out home visits on request.

Independence and choice of hearing aids

As an independent centre, the company highlights that it has access to a wide range of manufacturers, which broadens the patient's freedom of choice. Its advice is presented as objective and its services as truly personalised, on the idea that no two pairs of ears are the same and therefore neither is a single approach.
