About Pets in Partnership

Pets in Partnership: dog training and pet behaviour in Rayleigh

Pets in Partnership is a dog training and behaviour service for dogs and cats operating from its main centre at Lubards Farm in Rayleigh (Essex). The company was established as a full-time centre in 2005 and adopted its current name in 2009. Its activity covers training classes, behaviour consultancy, canine sports and workshops, with services available at its premises, at home or remotely when needed.

Main centre facilities

The Rayleigh centre has an all-year-round indoor training facility, heated in winter and air-conditioned in summer. Inside there is a group training arena, a small private consultation room, a viewing area, amenities and a small specialist shop. Outside there are three interconnected, fully secure grass paddocks with lighting; one has a deep layer of compost that improves the ground in wet weather and is suitable for agility. There is also a two-acre field for advanced groups, gundogs and tracking. For activities such as training walks and year-round sports support, the company also uses other external venues.

Pet dog classes and canine sports

Pet dog classes are the core of its offering and provide a training foundation with starting options for puppies, adolescent dogs and adults. Courses progress through levels up to advanced groups and include the opportunity to take the Kennel Club Good Citizens Medal tests. These classes also serve as a platform for starting sports activities, either with the company or elsewhere. The offering is completed with canine sports that can be practised for fun or with a view to competition.

Behaviour, workshops and seminars

The behaviour service includes the option of flower and gem essences with a qualified practitioner. The company also organises workshops, seminars and webinars throughout the year, including on whistle training, canine first aid, separation anxiety, canine communication, lead walking and recall, among others. It also hosts national and international trainers.

Team and approach

The team comprises Rebecca Lawrence-Baker, Sarah Ward, Cathy Chambers and Liz Phillips, professionals with qualified and practical experience from the fields of behaviour and training as well as veterinary, dog grooming and competitive sports and showing. Pets in Partnership presents itself as the trading name of an operating centre that provides facility support to selected independent trainers, whose services the client contracts through the facilitating company. Its approach is defined as pet-centric, with transparency and trust, community connection and a commitment to making information understandable for owners, as well as liaising with other professionals when necessary.

Geographic coverage

The company serves Rayleigh, Southend, Rochford, Hullbridge, Canvey Island, Billericay, Dengie, Burnham on Crouch, Southminster, Bradwell on Sea, Maldon, Wickford, Chelmsford, Basildon, London and the whole of Essex.
