Bugs & Beyond

Bugs & Beyond, jumping spider and exotic invertebrate supplies in the UK

Bugs & Beyond is a UK-based retailer specialising in everything you need to keep jumping spiders, velvet spiders, and exotic invertebrates. The store presents itself as a go-to supplier in the UK for enthusiasts of these species and organises its catalogue around the real needs of husbandry, not just selling products.

The company states that its products are selected with animal welfare and keeper experience in mind, and that every item in the catalogue has been tested against the specific demands of invertebrate keeping. This approach means care guides and advice are included with every purchase.

Catalogue: enclosures, live foods, and accessories

The range is structured into several product families:

• Enclosures and habitats: bioactive and naturalistic setups for jumping spiders, velvet spiders, and invertebrates, with models adapted to different life stages.
• Live foods: fruit flies, blue bottle flies, green bottle flies, and feeder roaches, delivered fresh.
• Décor and dry goods: natural terrarium décor, substrates, feeding dishes, and water bowls.
• Jumping spider accessories: accessories to set up and customise the enclosure.
• Cockroaches: a selection of exotic cockroach species.

The catalogue shown on the site includes, among others, a jumping spider sling enclosure with acrylic canopy top, a beehive hide, and a large coffin enclosure, as well as live green bottle flies as food. At the time of analysis, the store indicated that some spider stock would be arriving soon.

Species and care guides

The company publishes informative content about the species it sells and their care. Topics covered include the regal jumping spider (Phidippus regius), the canopy jumping spider (Phidippus otiosus), described as an intermediate-level species, and velvet spiders, presented as one of the hobby's most underrated families. The guides also address practical aspects such as the ideal temperature range, choosing between a heat mat and a heating cable, the need for a thermostat, and protecting spiders and their live food during UK heatwaves.
