Plank & Grain

Plank & Grain, wood flooring and interior finishes in Pembrokeshire

Plank & Grain is a family-run flooring business based in Pembroke Dock, in the Welsh county of Pembrokeshire, formerly operating under the name Oak Floors Online. The company presents itself as a family business with more than 25 years of experience in the sector and states that it has installed flooring in thousands of homes.

Its catalogue is organised around five product families: engineered wood flooring, solid wood, parquet, vinyl (LVT) and laminates, plus doors and an accessories section. The company states that it has hundreds of items in stock ready to ship and offers free flooring samples.

Woods, vinyls and laminates

The wood range includes engineered and solid flooring, as well as parquet in formats such as chevron and Versailles. In vinyl, the catalogue distinguishes between LVT with built-in underlay and a waterproof finish, vinyl herringbone and straight vinyl, as well as vinyl tile. Laminates complete the range of coverings.

The site shows starting prices per square metre for several categories: engineered wood from £25/m², solid wood from £30/m², parquet from £25/m², vinyl (LVT) from £15/m² and laminate from £11/m². Doors start from £75. These are catalogue references that may vary.

Wood grading

The company sells its oak floors in four grades: Prime, Mixed, Rustic and Ultra Rustic. It notes that its premium grading is higher than that of other competitors and that its Mixed grade corresponds to an ABC classification, compared with the CDE usual in the sector. To help choose, it maintains a help section with explanations about the different grades.

Accessories and complementary services

Alongside flooring, Plank & Grain sells adhesives and primers, underlays, tools, trims and thresholds, as well as oak mouldings. It also offers bespoke products and a fast sample service.

As for logistics, the company announces standard delivery within 2 to 4 working days, with a next-day delivery option, and free shipping for orders over £500. It has a warehouse and showroom in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

Informative content

The site maintains an advice section with articles on the grading of oak floors, the care and maintenance of this type of flooring and the recommended moisture and relative humidity levels before installing a wood floor, including the acclimatisation process.
