Car Audio Centre: car audio and road safety in the United Kingdom

Car Audio Centre is a British retailer specialising in car audio equipment and road safety solutions. The company states it has been active since 1992 and claims over thirty years of experience in the sector. Its activity combines online sales with a network of three physical stores in the United Kingdom, and its catalogue ranges from sound components to driver assistance devices.

Car audio catalogue

The main offering revolves around in-car sound reproduction. The catalogue includes stereos in various formats, such as double DIN, single DIN and mechless units, as well as vehicle-specific headunits, CD players and DAB stereos. It also sells systems compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, both wireless and wired, and MirrorLink™ solutions.

The speakers and subwoofers section comprises car speakers, tweeters, marine speakers, high wattage speakers and premium models, as well as subwoofers in various sizes (15, 12, 10 and 8 inch), active subwoofers, enclosed subwoofers, underseat subwoofers and subwoofer boxes for cars. The amplifiers section includes 2 and 4 channel models, mono subwoofer amplifiers, multi-channel amplifiers and marine amps, plus digital sound processors and plug and play solutions.

Road safety and driver assistance

In addition to audio, the company sells products focused on safety and assisted driving. These include dash cams and their accessories, stolen vehicle GPS trackers, speed camera detectors, parking sensors, reversing cameras and car alarms. The catalogue is completed by a fitting accessories section that includes full fitting kits, fascia kits, steering wheel control adapters, ISO wiring looms, antenna adapters, OEM camera retention leads, speaker adapter pods and looms, speaker wire, sound proofing, line out converters, USB and AUX adapters, as well as car care products, LED bulbs and wireless charging.

Brands and featured products

Among the brands the store distributes are Pioneer, Road Angel, Snooper, Kenwood and JVC. The featured catalogue on the site includes, among others, the In Phase USW300 300W active subwoofer, the Road Angel RA8100 reversing camera, the In Phase XTB-8A 600W amplified subwoofer, the Kenwood DMX-8021DABS stereo with 7-inch touchscreen, DAB, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the Road Angel Halo Ultra 4K and Halo Pro 2K dash cams with rear view. The company also publishes comparison guides on speed camera detectors, reversing cameras, sat nav systems and dash cams for the UK market.

Sales, installation and customer service

The company operates through mail order and a store network. According to the information published, in-store prices may differ from online prices, and installation is not included in the price: each store quotes for the fitting and the necessary components. The company states that it tries to accommodate installations without an appointment, although it recommends booking the vehicle in advance, and that it also carries out custom installations. For online purchases, the customer can buy the product and then arrange installation at the nearest store. The site notes that stores open on Saturdays and remain closed on Sundays, while online sales are available continuously. The company offers next-day delivery across the UK mainland and maintains a lowest price guarantee.

Customer reviews

The site shows an average rating of 4.4 out of 5 based on more than 3,000 reviews, with comments highlighting fast delivery, parts availability and issue resolution. The company also maintains a blog with buying guides on audio and road safety products.
