DIY Building Supplies

DIY Building Supplies, online supplier of timber and building materials

DIY Building Supplies is a building materials merchant operating online from Nottingham and delivering across mainland England. Its catalogue is aimed at both trade professionals — builders, contractors and renovation companies — and private individuals undertaking their own projects. The company presents itself as a specialist timber supplier with over five years of dedication to that category, and states that it is among the most recognised online timber suppliers in the UK.

The business model combines sales through its website with end-to-end supply management: the company states that it handles product sourcing, order tracking and delivery, supported by its office and sales team and a network of suppliers and manufacturers.

Timber and framing structures

Timber is the core of the offering. The catalogue includes treated and untreated timber, C16 and C24 structural timber, roofing battens, CLS studwork, joists, decking boards, sleepers, fencing and bulk timber. Products are also organised by size, with sections such as 2x1, 2x2, 3x2, 4x2, 5x2, 6x2, 7x2 and 8x2, as well as PSE planed timber and skirting. The company indicates that its team advises on the correct grade, size and specification for projects such as garden rooms, loft conversions or extensions.

Thermal and acoustic insulation

The insulation section covers high-performance PIR and phenolic boards, mineral wool, acoustic insulation and vapour control solutions. Applications mentioned by the company include floor, roof and cavity wall insulation, insulated plasterboard and insulation tapes. The catalogue brings together brands such as Celotex, Isover, Jablite, Knauf, Recticel, Rockwool and SuperFOIL, and includes bulk formats and roof rolls, as well as acoustic rolls and reflective multifoil.

Boards and plasterboard

In boards, the range includes structural plywood, marine plywood, shuttering plywood, OSB boards, chipboard flooring, MDF — including the moisture-resistant version — and fibreboard. The company presents itself as a specialist in this type of material and stresses the importance of choosing the correct grade, thickness and specification for structural uses, linings, floors and structures.

The plasterboard catalogue includes standard, insulated, fire-resistant, moisture-resistant, acoustic and vapour panel solutions, with brands such as British Gypsum, Knauf, Siniat and Warmline. Full pallets of plasterboard, metal framing, fixings and plaster and adhesive materials are also offered.

Aggregates, garden and outdoor

The range is completed with aggregates such as sands, cements and gravels; breather membranes, vapour control layers, damp proof course and weed membranes; common and concrete bricks; and a garden section with paving and circular paving kits, fencing and posts, gravel boards, wooden sleepers, decorative gravel and exterior wood care products.

Commercial terms and customer service

The company offers delivery across mainland England and discounts of up to 5%. It has a trade credit account with 30-day payment terms and a volume discount programme aimed at rewarding purchase loyalty. The site indicates that the technical team helps resolve questions about specifications and that the company publishes guides for choosing timber, insulation, boards and plasterboard.

The company explains that its creation responded to its founders' previous experience with delivery delays, incorrect orders, poor-quality materials and customer service teams unable to resolve basic technical questions.
