About PSH Environmental
PSH Environmental: skip hire and recycling in Norfolk
PSH Environmental is a family-run waste management and recycling company based in Norfolk (UK). It presents itself as more than just a skip hire company: it prioritises sustainability and the environment in all its operations. It offers domestic and commercial waste management services in Norwich and the surrounding areas, and handles the responsible processing and recovery of waste from renovation projects, house clearances and commercial waste management.
The company has over 1000 skips across Norfolk and a dedicated in-house team that ensures prompt deliveries and collections. In addition to standard skip hire, it provides commercial skips, roll-on roll-off containers and safe disposal of plasterboard and asbestos.
Available skips and recommended uses
PSH Environmental's catalogue includes several skip sizes to suit different types of projects:
- 2 Yard Skip: the smallest, recommended for small amounts of household, garden and DIY waste.
- 4 Yard Skip: mid-sized, suitable for standard bathroom refurbishments, DIY projects or house and garden clearances.
- 6 Yard Skip: ideal for small to medium-sized projects such as kitchen renovations or garage, house or garden clearances.
- 8 Yard Skip: known as the 'builders skip', it is the largest available for soil and rubble removal. Suitable for large household or construction projects.
- 10 Yard Skip: the ideal choice for removing bulky and lightweight items. Suitable for mixed construction, packaging, office and house clearance waste.
- 12 Yard Skip: available with or without a lid, it is the largest standard skip. The best choice for commercial and domestic jobs with a high volume of waste, and for heavy, bulky items such as furniture.
- Roll-On Skips: available in approximate 20 or 40 yard sizes. Suitable for trade customers who need to dispose of extremely large, bulky items, and for commercial properties and larger construction sites.
Booking, pricing and permits
Norwich skips can be booked online for the date that suits the customer. The starting price indicated by the company is £216 including VAT, and may vary based on distance and delivery date. PSH Environmental states that there are no hidden fees: the final price includes everything needed and there is no extra charge for disposing of permitted bulky items such as mattresses or armchairs.
If the skip needs to be placed on a public road, a permit is generally required. The company handles this with the relevant council; the stated cost is £102 including VAT. The process can take up to 7 days, so this should be taken into account when setting the delivery date. The customer must inform the company when booking if a permit is needed.
Collection and hire period
Standard hire includes 7 days of use, and collection takes place from the eighth day onwards. The company provides a 'collection from' date for the removal of the skip. The minimum hire is one week for standard skips. PSH Environmental states that it can be flexible with collection if the customer requests it via a note on the booking form or by phone, although it warns that staff availability and product demand may limit that flexibility.
Accepted materials and restrictions
General skips accept a wide variety of materials: bricks, rubble, tiles, carpets and underlay, textiles (including mattresses), wood, furniture, metals, green waste, soil and others. The 8 yard skip is the largest available for soil, rubble and heavy construction materials; the 10 and 12 yard models have a weight limit, so they are not recommended for heavy materials.
Fridges or freezers, fluorescent tubes, mercury-containing waste, asbestos, electrical monitors, gas bottles, plasterboard, liquids (except solid dry paint), tyres and items that could cause dangerous chemical reactions are not accepted. Plasterboard must be separated from other waste using a specific bag, as mixing it with other materials can generate hydrogen sulphide, a toxic, flammable gas that is harmful to the environment. The company offers two bag sizes: small (26x25 inches / 98 litres) for £36 and a one-tonne bag (35x35 inches / 729 litres) for £96. Bags must be placed in the skip before the collection date.
Commitment to recycling and zero waste to landfill
PSH Environmental describes itself as a waste recycling specialist in Norfolk and states that it is the only skip hire company in east Norfolk capable of processing non-recyclable waste into Refuse Derived Fuel, which allows it to fulfil its 'zero waste to landfill' promise. The company uses its own self-sufficient sorting process, with state-of-the-art recycling machinery and manual sorting, to recover or recycle all the materials it receives at its facilities. Its motto is 'If you wanted to, you would'.
Coverage and service area
PSH Environmental delivers skips for domestic and commercial use across most of Norfolk. The locations it covers include Norwich, Dereham, Acle, North Walsham, Sheringham, Stalham, Cromer and Wymondham. The company invites customers to check whether a specific address is served.
Recent activity and industry presence
The company's blog features posts about its activity. In August 2026, PSH Environmental published an analysis of official figures on fly-tipping in Norfolk, noting that fewer than 1% of offenders receive a penalty, and called for more coordinated action. That same month, the company reported a fire at its facilities and thanked neighbours for raising the alarm and the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service for their response. It also published an article about its responsible waste sorting and recycling processes.
Careers
The company continues to accept applications from those who want to build a career in the waste management and recycling sector. It presents itself as an innovative company in waste and recycling solutions, with opportunities for professional development and long-term progression.
