OptiMate UK

OptiMate UK, British importer of TecMate chargers

OptiMate UK is the exclusive UK importer of OptiMate and AccuMate battery chargers, manufactured by TecMate, an international specialist in "smart" charging technology for vehicle batteries. The company operates from Northampton and has three decades of activity in the sector.

According to its own presentation, ProBike has been TecMate's sole UK importer since day one and has sold over 500,000 OptiMate and AccuMate chargers in the country, picking up multiple awards along the way. The firm presents itself as a regular advisor to leading companies on battery-related issues.

Charger and accessory catalogue

The catalogue is organised into several product families:

• Battery chargers for car, motorcycle and powersport, recreational vehicles, truck and off-highway, and solar and off-grid applications.
• Lithium chargers and multi-bank chargers.
• Accessories: SAE and TM accessory leads, extension leads, battery testers and USB chargers.
• PRO charger series.

The website indicates free shipping for orders over £100 and a three-year warranty on OptiMate chargers.

Charging technology and manufacturer backing

The company stresses that battery charging is not a simple process: over the last two decades multiple battery technologies have emerged and each unit has a particular history and condition. OptiMate and AccuMate chargers are designed to assess, recover, charge, maintain and monitor the battery fully automatically, without user intervention, even for months if necessary.

The material highlights that OptiMate is backed by motorcycle manufacturers, which test and assess maintenance chargers to ensure they do not damage either the battery or the bike. The website mentions nine manufacturer endorsements, over twenty years of development, more than 1,500,000 customers and products distributed in over 50 countries.

Awards and positioning

Among the awards the company cites are the MCN Product of the Year Award and the British Dealer News Best Retail Product Award. The firm also contrasts its specialisation with competitor products that, according to its description, come from unknown Chinese factories and are marketed by companies with no technical knowledge of battery charging.

Customer profile and technical advice

OptiMate UK targets both end users of vehicles and distributors, and offers specialised technical advice. The company states it has trained staff who comprehensively understand charging technology and its applications, and who regularly advise world-leading companies on battery-related issues.
