Mark My Essay

Mark My Essay: essay marking with detailed feedback

Mark My Essay is an academic marking and assessment service for students, teachers, home-educating families, and parents. The company presents itself as a platform where users submit their essay or assignment and receive an assessment prepared by teachers, tutors, and examiners. According to its own description, the service accepts any subject, any assignment, and any level.

How the marking service works

The process consists of three steps. First, the user completes their essay or assignment. Then, they upload the work as an image or PDF using a form. Finally, an expert teacher or tutor marks the work and sends the feedback by email. The company states that work can be returned in as little as 12 hours.

What the feedback includes

The marking includes in-text comments as well as a grade. In addition, the user receives a report detailing what has been done well and suggestions for improvement. The company also offers exam tips and techniques tailored to the specific subject. As an additional guarantee, Mark My Essay states that a real marker reviews the work and that ChatGPT or similar tools are never used to assess assignments.

Subjects and levels covered

The service covers a wide range of subjects. Among the subjects mentioned are English Literature, Physics, Politics, History, Mathematics, Psychology, Law, and Biology. The company also publishes marking samples, such as a university-level History essay and an A-level Mathematics assignment, reflecting its coverage of both upper secondary education and university studies.

Marker profiles

Mark My Essay states that marking is carried out by teachers, tutors, and examiners from top-ranking UK universities. This is presented as part of the service's value proposition, aimed at providing expert assessment aligned with academic standards.

Resources for students

The platform offers users complementary tools, such as a word counter and a guide on how to write a good introduction. These resources are intended to support students beyond the one-off marking of an assignment.
