The Guitar Tech: New and Pre-Owned Guitars in Maidstone

The Guitar Tech is a guitar shop located in Maidstone, in the county of Kent (United Kingdom). It presents itself as the city's only guitar shop and focuses on selling new and pre-owned instruments, effects, amplifiers and all kinds of consumables and guitar accessories. The shop also operates online and offers free UK shipping on orders over £450, plus finance available up to 24 months through Shop Pay.

Instrument and Brand Catalogue

The catalogue covers electric, acoustic and bass guitars, both new and pre-owned. Among the brands the shop indicates it has available are Ibanez, PRS, Atkin, Maybach, Cream T and Chapman, among others. The website particularly highlights two British-built brands: Cream T, which makes premium guitars in the UK and whose pickups the shop describes as second to none, and Atkin Guitars, whose instruments are built in Kent by a small team specialising in boutique construction. The addition of Maybach Guitars is also announced, with boutique instruments that feature CreamT pickups in some models and which the shop describes as lightweight and suitable for gigging musicians.

Pre-Owned and Buying Used Instruments

The shop has a specific pre-owned guitar section, with instruments ranging from beginner models to premium and vintage pieces from brands such as Fender, Gibson, Ibanez and PRS. It also buys guitars from individuals: it offers the possibility to sell instruments you no longer use, make part-exchanges or arrange trade-in deals.

In-House Workshop: Repairs and Modifications

The Guitar Tech has an in-house workshop that handles everything from a simple string change to a full refinish. Among the services it mentions are setups, pickup replacement, installation of killswitches and other wiring modifications. The shop also offers lessons, as indicated in its navigation menu.

The accessories range includes electric, acoustic, bass and classical guitar strings; cables, capos, cases and gigbags; drum accessories; electronics; picks, straps, stands and wall hangers; knobs and switch tips; pickups, tuners and tools, as well as vocal care products.
